THX_1138 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Is Zaheer likely to be fit for the series down under? and if so, what must our bowling line up look like? We are unlikely to field five bowlers, and just as unlikely to field two spinners simultaneously. I would like to see Zaheer, Umesh, Ojha and Ashwin... I wont mind Zaheer, Umesh, Ishant, Ashwin either... but what i would really like to see is Zaheer, Umesh, Ishant, Ashwin and Ojha. We have a darn good top order, and we really ought to be able to compensate for the loss of a Raina here or there. The one drawback of sporting five bowlers would be that our batting lineup would be missing any new or relatively new faces: With Sehwag and Gambhir the youngest of the lot, it might be a step backwards to not blood Pujara or Kohli or Sharma.
Ultimate_Game Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 My bowling lineup for the opening test in Aus... Zaheer (if fully fit) Ishant Umesh Yadav Ojha Other bowlers in the squad... PK Sreesanth or Aaron (still not decided which one) Ashwin
punjabi_khota Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Dhoni at #6 would be a huge gamble, we should stick to 6+1+4, with bowlers Zak,Ishant,Umesh and Ojha.
triam Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 no PK in any of your line ups? i would go with zak pk umesh/ishant ojha
BeautifulGame Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 We havent played a 5 man bowling attack for a long time so suddenly trying that in Australia that too in the first test would be madness. We should stick to our best formation which is 6 batsmen plus 4 bowlers and Dhoni. Zaheer Ishant and Yadav as first choice seamers.Pk should be back up for Zaheer and Aroon for Yadav and Ishant.Playing two medium fast bowlers (zaheer and Praveen) in a 4 man attack in Australia is a huge risk. Ashwin for spinner with Ohja as back up.The bounce in Asusie pitches will make Ashwin more potent than Ohja IMO. So Zaheer Ishant Yadav and Ashwin.
saneindian Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Have a feeling Zak will not be ready for the first test. He is playing a Ranji match from 29th Novand to expect him to be fit to bowl in a test match within a month would be too much of a risk. Injuries permitiing, PK, Ishant, Umesh and Ashwin could be the bowling line up for the Boxing day test.
rkt.india Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 no PK in any of your line ups? i would go with zak pk umesh/ishant ojha will depend how they do in warmup games? Ishant and Zak are sure if they are fit. One of PK, Umesh, and Yadav.
rkt.india Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Zak' date=' PK and Ishant atleast for 1st test.[/quote'] Not sure about PK yet until the warmus. I will be tempted to go with extra pace and swing of Yadav than just wing of PK.
Manu80 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I don't think PK will be effective on Australian Pitches which has more bounce than swing
Ultimate_Game Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I don't think PK will be effective on Australian Pitches which has more bounce than swing That's what we said before the WI tour and he was our best bowler in WI as well as Eng before he got injured.
bajrang Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 first match pk, ishant, umesh ashwin. cant trust zak on first day of first match. he can be substitute to someone to spear head the attack in the first match.
rkt.india Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 That's what we said before the WI tour and he was our best bowler in WI as well as Eng before he got injured. Ishant was our best bowler in WI. PK was good only in first test where there was some swing he got and took 6 wickets, Ishant also got 6 there, but PK was very ineffective at Barbados, even Mithun took more wickets than him as there was no swing at Barbados where Ishant took 10 wickets with his pace and bounce, was also ineffective at St. Lucia on a slow pitch where Ishant tool 6 wickets. And English conditions were always going to suit him that we knew that is why I preferred him over Sree there.
Lord Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 dunno why PK was ignored in this series,he should be in XI for sure.If Zak is fit then Zak,PK,Umesh n Ashwin in XI n Ishant,Aaron,Ojha in reserves. what Umesh n Yadav have ensured that Zak is not pressurised .he should play only if 100% fit.n ofcourse it rules bloopers like RP
cowboysfan Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I am not sure why everybody thinks Ojha will get a game ahead of Ashwin who should enjoy the good bounce in Australia.
rkt.india Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 khan' date='yadav,[b']sreesanth, ashwin imo  he wont even be picked
Lord Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I am not sure why everybody thinks Ojha will get a game ahead of Ashwin who should enjoy the good bounce in Australia. I think partly because offies havent done well in Oz.even Swann has struggled there.Ojha wont be a bad choice
panther Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011  he wont even be picked imo that's the best line up for india even though he is unlikely to be picked i still think sreesanth is india second best fast bowler currently
