kabira
Sometimes playing too much ODI cricket and shorter form messes up you technique. Even Dravid had similar issue in 99 tour... he needs to play straight and allow ball come to him... Link to comment
BeautifulGame
Gambhir maynot have scored 100 for more than a year but the 80's and 90's he scored in SA are much more valuable than a century. This is Gambhir's first innings in Australia. He will take some time adapt.cant remember any Indian batsmen scored 50 in their first test in Australia. Not even Sachin or Dravid. So no point overreacting. He was in good for in West Indies and in tour games and hopefully will come good once he adjusts to the conditions. In the meantime its the responsibility of our experienced batsmen to take the responsibility Link to comment
Ram
The alarming thing about Gambhir's recent form is that he is getting out in ways - nervous pokes outside off-stump, ugly wafts to wide-balls - that you wouldnt normally come to expect from somebody who till very recently, averaged above 50 in test cricket. When someone, especially a top order batsmen, averages above 50 in test cricket, that is rarefied territory. That is a stat that immediately evokes respect among opposition players and fans alike. You dont expect players of such caliber to get out in ways that Gambhir is getting out. Can you imagine a Sangakkara or a J'dene wafting wildly outside off-stump? You can tell that even the Aussie commies are slightly perplexed by Gambhir's shot selection. Irrespective of how his career progresses from here, Gambhir will go down as one of India's all time great test bats. Its upto him to decide whether he wants to get back to the drawing board and figure whats going in between his ears. Link to comment

Gimme a break saar!! Link to comment
Pagalpanti
This has been Gambhir's age old problem, IIRC Poking at deliveries and playing across getting lbw was the reason he was dropped so early after his debut but he sorted it out and came back strong. Link to comment
kabira
when you are low on confidence, you tend to chase balls or feel for them. He just needs to spend time in middle.. Link to comment
amiret
said during the England tour itself. He is an overrated batsman with very poor technique and he struggles against the moving ball. He did reasonably well in SA but he has resumed his role as a typical ftb. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Despite being ardent supporter of him, i am losing confidence. Watched with friends. I predicted his dismissal two balls before he got out. His T20 flirts outside the off stump was clearly a give away it was only a matter of time. Mukund is in prime form. Should have been there. Number
Even though he is terribly out of form , its way too early to write him off and start demanding for a replacement.hopefully he will fight his way out. If you send him back to domestic games he will outscore everyone out there. I would rather get behind him and support him in the tough time. Link to comment

Sehwag lost his spot in the side after one bad series. Gauti has been given the long rope due to what he did in 08 and 09, now time is fast running out for him, especially with Mukund and Rahane scoring runs. Link to comment
ravishingravi
Yeah' date=' he certainly nailed it when he suggested dropping Gambhir during the WC.[/quote'] Yeah right and that proves what. He was wrong for WC so he has to be wrong here too. Very smart. Link to comment
Cricket Tragic
The use of the word "again" suggests that he is someone who is right more often than not. In fact, he is known for getting things wrong. It is one of the things he is famous for along with adjusting his box while batting and talking up Doug Walters at every given opportunity. "Again" was with reference to some other comments he made during the test esp about Dhoni's captaincy which were spot on or that I agreed with. I think that should make it clear. Link to comment
carnish
Gambhir is just out of form.. you people bash him for playing his favourite shot  i mean he loves playing the poke outside off stump to third man... he has confidence on that shot... the problem is since he is out of form, his feet donot move so well and he is not rightly balanced to play that shot... fact is when he is form he will play the same shot all day and get away with it scoring lots of runs... he even played the same shot with much success in nzl in bouncier tracks in 2009. The fact is not all players are sachin tendulkar... remember the time he was out of form against australia and was struggling on the off side... and aussies had blocked the mid wicket... yet the whole day i remember he didnot play more than 25 balls on the off-side and just scored all his runs on the legs... he just cut the drives and the square cuts... thats a genius... not all can do that... Gambhir is a good batsman but no sachin when he sees the ball in his area he goes for it ( yes, he is aggressive too) and its natural for him... only thing is when he gets back to form he will score big and you will see lots of pokes in those innings too... mark my words.. kubrickian
Its obvious that playing in IPL can have an effect on performance in tests with regards to shot selection and temperament as the standard of cricket is pretty low in that format and one doesnt have to stay long at the wicket and play the ball according to merit. Its important that BCCI lays down a rule barring all test players from not playing in IPL to prevent burn out and injuries and let them concentrate only on tests. Increase the pay for test players to compensate for not playing in IPL. Link to comment
peterparker
bashing IPL again..well gambhir is a professional and all professional sees everything and they need to and must come out of all situation Link to comment
