Ultimate_Game
I would take "dust bowl" dished for Ind-Aus test any day over the cr@p surface we are seeing this match. Link to comment
rajmarie
Everytime a test wicket which help bowlers is made....it is reported to ICC. Specially wickets that spin from day 1. Recently in Capetown...21 wickets fall in 1 day...& teh game finished within 3 day. Dont know if it was reported. So basically only spinner assisting wickets from day 1 are reported to ICC. wickets on which PHAST bowlers can pick plenty...or where batsman can keep batting on & on are not reported. Trundler27
In order to become a great test team, we need to stop craving personal records and milestones and put our best foot forward in order to try and win games. If our batters bat like this game is already drawn, we will not score even 300 in the first innings and follow on.... However, if we bat as per Ashwin's stated goal of getting close to their score and see what our bowlers can do on the last day, you never know what can happen and perhaps we can yet win this match. So I say screw the records.... even if each of our top 6-7 batters get 50 plus scores like the windies line up I'd be happy. Link to comment

That's a bias BCCI needs to fight and we should not be apologetic for preparing turning result pitches. The whole point of cricket is to pit the skills of batsmen against bowlers and nowhere it says that bowlers can only be fast bowlers. Integral part of test cricket is to be tested and perform in all conditions - swinging and seaming conditions in Eng/NZ, hard and bouncy in Aus/SA to turning pitches in Ind/SL. If a seaming wkt in NZ or SA can have 20 wkts fall on a day why shouldn't a turning wkt provide the same test to the batsmen? Who came up with the rule "sporting wkts can only have bounce/pace/seam/swing"? Why can't turning wkts which favor spin right from day 1 be "sporting" as well as they give both the batsmen and bowlers (spin bowlers thouh) an equal chance to perform. I hope we prepare turning tracks when Eng tours next where it turns right from the first session and the BCCI take it up with ICC in case ICC intervenes. Enough of this "pace is sporting" non-sense. To me any pitch that helps bowlers, and spinners are bowlers, is a good one. Just coz Aus/Eng/SA can't play spin shouldn't mean tracks helping spinners are termed non-sporting. After all we don't say anything about the tracks where cows can actually graze. Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
Sehwa is the only batsman I see breking the record. He needs to be on song for a day and a bit and there goes the record. Link to comment

Manny_Pacquiao
Can india break the record for highest innings total (952)? http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63762.html this track is just as bad as that one was. india piled up 500+, just like WI did. SL batted for 3 days. everybody knows that india has produced the greatest batsmen in the history of the game, lots of record breakers, but for some reason, they have never had a massive innings total. 720 odd against SL is the best they have managed so far this is the perfect opportunity to do it. no possibility of getting a result, crap bowling attack. 3 days of batting by the top 6 will easily get india 700+ they should go for it, its now or never B->B-> and if it doesnt happen in this test, they could always do it in australia...705/7 B-> Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
Nope, not gonna happen. That track was flat with ball coming on to the bat and was similar to the tracks in Pakistan on our 2006 tour where Sehwag and Dravid had an opening wkt partnership of 400+ at 5+ an over. This track is sluggish and low bounce, and not really that conducive to stroke-play. Link to comment

Ultimate_Game
not really, its hardly had any wear and tear. the red clay will hold up throughout the 5 days B-> But the ball doesn't seem to be coming onto the bat and the bounce is low. It's easy to not get out but difficult for stroke-play. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Even if India is in such position they will not bat that long. They will declare around 750 Link to comment

No point in over-bowling your bowlers on this pitch. India shouldn't declare and continue to bat if they can. Link to comment
