I think India will win this series but IF Zak is unfit then I won't be surprised if we lose badly.

Saving India from defeat depends on our batsmen. Sehwag is not in usual 'big inning' type of form, Gambhir looks edgy. Sachin Dravid and Laxman are in good form. Kohli's addition might strengthen this team, but our batsman will have to give top performance to save India. Winning matches depends completely on our bowlers.

That remains to be seen. The West Indian fast bowlers exposed his technical flaws on bouncy pitches in the Test series in WI so we'll have to see if he fares any better on Aussie tracks.

I have full confidence in both Sehwag and Gambhir. Both will score heavily in Aus. If anything, I think this time one of the big 3 will fail. As for Kolhi's addition and what it brings to the team - I am still not convinced and hope to see Rohit Sharma in the Test team. I have very high hopes from Rohit and I think he will do well in Tests.

Right now don't think Indian bowling attack looks threatening.[/quote']If they prepare helpful conditions for bowlers then it will bring the Indian bowlers into play which would mean the strategy would backfire on the Aussies. I expect Indian batting to do slightly better than Aussie batting.

Don't bank on Dravid doing well if MJ is in the side. Dravid's recent struggles have mainly come against left-arm quicks. Hopefully he is over that though.

If that does happen then I'd put my money on Dravid failing. Can't see Buddha and Lax - both traditional tormentors of the convicts - fail.

I think it will be a very tough series. Australia played well in SA in away conditions, so they will be hard to beat at home. One good thing is Indian batsmen will enjoy the hard, bouncy wickets in Australia more than England. Also Ishant, Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav will be more effective there. Ashwin is a much better spin option than Bhajji.

We struggled twice in 5 innings against WI at home. Spinners saved us in first match. We were in trouble even in first inning of third test. Our batting looked superior only in 2nd test and 2nd inning of first test.

I wouldnt say struggled. But didnt perform up to potential on a couple of occasions. They still won the series 2-0 and almost won the 3rd one.

Us losing this series could mean the end of some careers and some drastic changes to the test side. Another bad series for Gauti and there would be calls for him being dropped. MSD would find it difficult to retain his test captaincy. Ishant would have to end his wicket drought else he too would be under the scanner. VVS, in all probability, is playing his last few series. The ray of hope is the fact that unlike the England tour, we are not going to this series after playing non stop cricket, we have our regular openers back, the pace bowling strength on bench looks much better, our spinners are not looking jaded, the captain will have a decent break and the entire team has played a test series just now, so can expect them to be better planned for the Aus series. We will also have about 15 days of preparation (for the leading players add a few more days) and 2 practice matches before the test series begins. For England we had 8 days of preparation and 1 practice match. Also unline England, every player will go into the series with a couple of recent first class matches (besides the practice matches).
