Ravi. Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Even Rohit felt under pressure. Jaddu did quite well. Topic :fail:
rahulrulezz Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 These days I was trying hard to stay out any Jadeja thread... seems like everyone has jumped onto this Jadeja bandwagon after his last 2-3 performances..... I still think he is not good enough to play for India at all..specially for a #7 bastman... He is only made for matches where India has to chase less than 240 and run-rate is not the issue with a top order collapse... that happens only once in a while... Problem is when you are required to chase 50 in 30 balls .. he just doesnt have it in those situation .. he doesnt have power shots for a number 7 batsman... I guess, some fans needs to relive two world cups where he single-handedly got us kicked out .... P.S. After playing 44 in last 3 years, his finally contributed to teams victory with his batting...Todays score of 38 is his highest in any Indian victory..last highest was 27
vamos_rafa Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 who is Jaadu ?? also, your love for mediocrity is commendable :hatsoff: :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
Stuge Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I wish he had played til the end ,but his partnership with rohit was the turning point of the match . So ,Well played .
ganeshran Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 This is not only about yesterday's match, its Jadeja's tendency to lose his head in crunch times and it has happened 3 times since his comeback where he has been playing better cricket. His position is a that of a finisher and he will encounter such scenarios more often than not. Age is on his side so he should try to improve from here. And LOL at people jumping on the Jadeja brigade

Yesterday he wasnt under pressure when he got.He came in under pressure and build a very good innings. So he played well under pressure yesterday.Just because he got out doesnt mean he crumbled under pressure.Does that mean sachin crumbled under pressure in last test or when Rohit cant handle pressure because he got out yesterday? Panicking under pressure is what Vinay Kumar did yesterday not what Jadeja or Rohit did. And LOL at people jumping on the Jadeja brigade Its better than slating an Indian player at every chance just because u hate him.
ganeshran Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Yesterday he wasnt under pressure when he got.He came in under pressure and build a very good innings. He has the tendency of throwing it away, and i am not basing it just on the last match. Yesterday, when he came in we were under pressure and he and Rohit played quite well to get us where we were. But in his batting position, he needed to stick it out at the very end. Instead he chased a delivery wide outside off stump and got caught. A better opposition wouldnt have let us come back in the game. Same happened in 5 overthrows in the England game - he didnt turn back and look to see where the keeper was, just threw it in full force in the general direction towards the keepers' end. Patience is one thing Jaddu doesnt have and should learn from Dhoni on how to keep his head even in tense situations. Like I said before, he has age on his side and the onus is on him to improve. Contrast that with how Rohit played, He seemed content to just knock it around the ground. his dismissal didn't come trying to play a glory shot, but was rather a lapse in concentration. Its better than slating an Indian player at every chance just because u hate him. Hate? You need to stop getting defensive.

He went for a glory shot? That was a wide half volley deserved to be punished. He was just unlucky it was a slower ball and was done in by the lack of pace. How on earth was that glory shot? Exactly how both Rohit sharma and Jadeja played all through their partnership.Punishing the ball and scoring at a good rate.If not for their quick scoring our tail would have the luxury of wasting overs and still achieving the target. If that was a glory shot how would term the pull shot Rohit Sharma played that went to 3rd man? No one is saying he is a great finisher and no one in our is apart from Dhoni and Yuvi. But just because he cant finst a game yesterday and a mistaken overthrow doesnt mean he cant handle pressure. He took us home along with Dhoni in the 3rd ODI against England when we were under huge pressure.Or the 78 he scored when we lost 5 for nothing in England.Or yesterday's 81 run partnership he forged with Rohit when we were under pressure. Just like some saying Ashwin cant handle pressure because he got run out twice.Ignoring the performances that are done under pressure and only trying to magnify the mistakes they made. Raina has plenty of times thrown away wickets when we were under pressure.Does that mean he cant handle pressure too? Hate? You need to stop getting defensive. No its not being defensive. Why would i get defensive seriously. Its just pointing out how slate him often for no reason.Heck u even said he shouldnt be selected for test cricket because he doesnt have technique for slogging.
Pagalpanti Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Well had India lost, you could say the same for Rohit? That was a wide half volley, 9 out of 10 times he could've put that away. Unlucky for him he hit it in the air, he has been magnificent actually in pressure situation. India were down 40/4 or something in England and took India to a respectable total in one of the ODI's in England Helped India chase 300 against England along with Dhoni. And yesterday helped India recover from 59/5 to around 140, giving India a chance to win.

Raina has plenty of times thrown away wickets when we were under pressure.Does that mean he cant handle pressure too? Of course it was a glory shot. There were plenty of overs left and the ball was wide outside off stump. He had already got a four off the previous ball and was trying to finish it off in a hurry when it wasnt needed at all. In the Mohali match, he ran a needless run which was a totally ridiculous call at a crucial juncture. He would have been out by a mile if it was not for Kieswetter's amateurish mistake. No one is magnifying his mistakes. The others whom you mentioned have won plenty of matches for India - especially Raina. If you think Jadeja has played well under pressure, then fine by me. I just dont share the view considering his exploits till now.If he improves in the future then it would be good for Indian cricket No its not being defensive. Why would i get defensive seriously. Its just pointing out how slate him often for no reason.Heck u even said he shouldn't be selected for test cricket because he doesnt have technique for slogging. By that same stick, why would I hate a player? Of course he shouldnt be selected for Test cricket because of his poor technique. It was you who was championing his cause in the test side positioning him as an all rounder when even in an ODI game we wont get a full quota out of him in most matches. The slogging comment was in a different context, not sure how you managed to tie the both together.
Mariyam Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 who is Jaadu ?? also, your love for mediocrity is commendable :hatsoff: Huh? Don't you know who Jaadu is? Sir John is spot on here. Jaadu is a team player. I've myself witnessed a great basketball game by him once. Can't really comment on his cricketing skills.

In the Mohali match, he ran a needless run which was a totally ridiculous call at a crucial juncture. He would have been out by a mile if it was not for Kieswetter's amateurish mistake. Similarly Rohit Sharma would have been out sooner if not for Bravo misjudging a catch at 3rd man yesterday. So does that mean Rohit sharma couldnt handle pressure yesterday? My point he is learning his trade now and along the way there will be few failures. But that doesnt mean one can brand him as a youngsters who cant handle pressure. No one can learn without failures. We branded Raina the same way until he learned his craft of finishing the innings. Its unfair on youngsters. One can understand labeling a senior player for buckling under pressure but branding youngsters is ridiculous.FFS Jadeja was the 2nd youngest player in the team yesterday. Its simply ridiculous to brand a youngster as choker when he is still learning particularly overlooking the good knocks they play under pressure and only magnifying their failures. How does it help them learn their trade?

Its not based on last match alone. I listed the other situations as well. He loses his head under pressure and its starting to become a systemic problem, whether it was giving 6 sixes in a row in the T20 word cup or getting run out few runs before the target in the 350 target match. Similarly Rohit Sharma would have been out sooner if not for Bravo misjudging a catch at 3rd man yesterday. So does that mean Rohit sharma couldnt handle pressure yesterday? Sharma also had temperament issues in the past but looks a much improved player nowadays as evidenced from his performance against the West Indies. In the last 10 overs that he was batting, he was content to simply knock the ball around and go for singles. Even the ball he got out, he was trying to work it on the leg side but had a lapse in concentration. Similarly Raina have failed far more times than Jadeja when India was under pressure.Only by those failures he is winning those matches.Yet there were plenty who branded Raina as a choker when he was still new to cricket (particularly after Hyderabad match) unfairly. Its not just about Jadeja.I said the same in the Ashwin and Kohli threads too. I dont know why you are bringing red herrings in the debate. My point wasnt that youngsters who have performed poorly in the first few innings will continue to do poorly over the course of their entire careers. It was specifically regarding the performance of one player - Jadeja in the initial years of his careers. Just because X, Y or Z performed well after doing poorly initially, doesnt mean that Jadeja is assured of doing the same. Jadeja plays in the position of the finisher which comes with a requirement to play well under the pressure, regardless of who plays there - Pathan, Tiwary will be judged by the same standards. If they fail under pressure and we lose matches because of it, criticism will be forthcoming - that is part and parcel of playing cricket at the highest level. He deserves his chances based on the strong performances after his comeback, but he needs to work on the aspect of playing under pressure and who better to learn from than Dhoni who makes it a habbit to stay there till the end and not throw away a start.
