Indian batsman Virat Kohli has been reprimanded for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct by showing dissent to an umpire's decision after his dismissal in the third ODI against the West Indies in Ahmedabad. "India batsman Virat Kohli has been reprimanded for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during his team's ODI against the West Indies in Ahmedabad on Monday," the ICC said in a statement. Kohli pleaded guilty to a Level 1 offence and accepted the proposed sanction from match referee David Boon after play concluded. He was found to have breached 2.1.3 of the code which relates to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision". After being given out in the ninth over, the player stood his ground for a considerable time before eventually leaving the middle. This was considered to be a show of dissent, a fact accepted by the player himself. As Kohli pleaded guilty and accepted the proposed sanction there was no need for a formal hearing. The charge was brought by on-field umpires Tony Hill and Sudhir Asnani and third umpire Vineet Kulkarni. "Accepting umpires' decisions is part and parcel of playing cricket and on this occasion Virat clearly showed dissent when he had been given out," said Boon.

More like' date=' he was lucky not to get done for that abusing[/quote'] Yeah, I also think he got away way too lightly. His disgraceful abusing was really prolonged to be brushed aside as the disappointment of getting out.

Difference is many Indians feel that such behavior is unacceptable and our own players should be fined for it. Wonder if guys like Serani ever felt the same about any of the English players.

David Boon' date= we need more match refs like him. Kohli lucky to get way with just a reprimand.
Are you kidding me?? Boon himself had a colourful record and once broke the dressing room window after given out......... Aussies or pakistanis should be the last people to be made Match Referees..... Its like the hindi / urdu saying "Sau chuhe kha ke billi haj ko chali"

what is he being reprimanded for? swearing out loud? he wasn't talking to the umpire, he was just showing frustration. if you are gonna reprimand people for swearing, then ppl in every single match would be guilty at some point or the other

But this mc/bc crowd keep overdoing it in every match. Then the replays of what exactly they have said are shown in slow motion, so that every kid watching the game understands what exact words should be used when you are frustrated/overjoyed.

Fine is appropriate. There is something called aggression and fire in belly, then there is just plain idiotic behaviour. Here Kohli was disappointed he was out and stood there. As Gavaskar said during eng test series that broad stands with his hands on his head like he has crashed into something lol, that also doesn't make for good cricket. Has to be one rule for all.
