Watson - gambo's better Warner - sehwag's better Marsh - dravid's better Ponting - over the hill. srt's better Clarke - laxman's better Hussey - good batsman but not in form. but still i'll take him over kohli Haddin - same as dhoni Siddle - same as ishant sharma Pattinson - good but zaheer's better Cummins - not playing Lyon - we have destroyed better spinners in warne, murali, vettori, swann etc. lyon is a non - factor ... Would thump India.

It looks like a side more auditioning for an IPL contract than play Test cricket. Cummins is already the new Tait (give it 1 more year before announces retirement from Test krikut), not long before we see him in a RCB jersey. :giggle:

Some big mouths on here - Wonder if their level of education/wealth is as high as their ego. Border/Gavaskar is coming home to Australia.
Dunno about Border but Gavaskar will come home to India after the series:D

A bit rich coming from a fan of team who just lost to NZ, whom Zim almost beat. So I guess you're the one that needs a reality check.

I am yet to come across a single Indian fan who does not admire the Aussie team of the golden era.

I think both the teams are evenly matched as both are re-building and therefore inconsistent...but Aussies have the edge due to home conditions. If India can avoid defeat in the first Test, Aussies will have a tough time winning the remaining matches. Indians always have the 'First Test Syndrome' when touring abroad... after that they tend to improve. The English tour was of course an exception. Well like they say....Let the games begin.

Can you really be that sure ? Both our teams are going through transformations as far as test cricket is concerned. ( India has a settled and strong ODI team ) I think the result is impossible to predict based on the teams on paper and recent performances. Everything would depend on which team gains psychological advantage at the beginning of the series, say the first 2 tests. Another critical factor would be how injury free our pace attack remains and whether they are able to maintain proper line and length at pace on the Aus tracks. For the first time we have 2 pacers who can bowl 90 mph ( the 3rd one, Aaron, got injured and can't make it ) and it would be important how well they bowl in Australia. If they get injured then the next in line are 130 k bowlers who would find it difficult in Australia. Our first choice bowling lineups would be similar but Aus has better depth in the pace department. Ashwin is perhaps better than Lyon. Both our batting lineups vary between superb and poor at the moment in tests. It is a real gamble trying to predict how either will perform. In a nutshell I would say a really difficult to predict series.

Umesh and Ashwin have shown that they have the knack of taking wickets consistently in their brief careers and ishant performs well in Australia as he gets extra bounce. Our bowling lineup may perform better than popular perception. It is far better than our England tour attack which missed Zaheer badly, had an injured Ishant and had trundlers instead of the quick Umesh Yadav.
