kabira Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Der aaye Durust aaye. Venky Prasad made similar recommedation in 2007 but no one cared then 15 is good number... We need similar pool of spinners and batsman as well. why stop at fastbowlers..
BeautifulGame Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 A single decent reason why to select Sangwan ahead of Unadkat? Or Tyagi ahead of Bhuvanesh Kumar.Heck even UP team doesnt select Tyagi into their team.
kabira Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 BCCI also need to send them to A tour. Only being at NCA do not make them ready for international cricket..

We already have VK and PK and with Irfan Pathan waiting in the wings, we don't need another Kumar trundler

So basically u are saying who is not even good enough UP team should be selected ahead of one of the best bowlers in Ranji trophy. What exact logic is this? What next?Mithun should be selected ahead Praveen because he bowls 5 k quicker?

The thing with Tyagi is he can bowl at 140 k, he is perfectly capable of doing that but he is just like another Ishant Sharma, who despite having some extra pace and height does not know how to pick wickets. He don't have that mentality. And bcoz Tyagi don't pick much wickets and BK does pick quite a no of wickets as compared to Tyagi, UP team prefers to play BK over Tyagi. But, Tyagi can be groomed coz he has a bit of raw pace It has been noticed that trundlers picks quite a no of wickets as compared to more lethal taller faster bowlers. So, it depends on you what is your choice and which bowler fits in your scheme of things, a trundler work-horse or a lethal fast one. My theory has always been and of most of the experts as well that- Either a fast bowler should be tall like 6'3 or 6'4 then even he has lower pace but swinging skills, he can be deadly. Or Either a fast bowler is 5'10 then he needs to have pace like 140 k average. Then, we already have PK, VK and Irfan waiting in the wings, and Munaf, RP also sidelined. So BK will be same kind of bowler and I don't see any point in picking him up over Tyagi.

It has been noticed that trundlers picks quite a no of wickets as compared to more lethal taller faster bowlers. So, it depends on you what is your choice and which bowler fits in your scheme of things, a trundler work-horse or a lethal fast one. This is comical justification of Tyagi.its simply not true that fast bowlers dont take wickets in ranji trophy.Umesh has an excellent domestic record , Dinda is the leading bowler in Ranji trophy this year.At times when they have a poor record is because they play for poor Ranji teams like Nechim (Assam) or varun (jarkjand) without proper support bowlers. Tyagi was part of arguably the Ranji attack and bowled awfully that he is replaced by a debutant. Then, we already have PK, VK and Irfan waiting in the wings, and Munaf, RP also sidelined. So BK will be same kind of bowler and I don't see any point in picking him up over Tyagi. And exactly how many bowlers are there in Ranji trophy like Buvanesh Kumar who can swing both new and old ball both ways?
nballa Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 why are a couple of pakis in the pool if the bcci is picking them?
express bowling Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 My choice would be:-1)Gony' date=2)Dinda,3)Abu Nechim, 4)Shami Ahmed,5)Anwar Ahmed,6)Sangwan,7)Pawan Suyal, 8)Rahul Shukla,9)Sudeep Tyagi,10)Mithun,11)Irfan, 12)Parvinder Awana,13)Vohra,14)Srikkanth Wagh,15)Pankaj Singh. Maybe Unadkat & Chahar will get selected ahead of someone among these guys but personally I'll not select them ahead of these guyz. Zak,Ishant,Umesh,Aaron,PK & Vinay:hehe: are our premier bowlers right now. Is this a news item or your personal wishlist ? Could you clarify please.
1983-2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 why are a couple of pakis in the pool if the bcci is picking them? :hysterical:who?
Needforspeed Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Is this a news item or your personal wishlist ? Could you clarify please. The news item is this http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/current/story/546800.html BCCI to pick fast-bowling pool Nagraj Gollapudi December 24, 2011 Anil Kumble may have quit as chairman of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, citing his vision did not match that of the BCCI's, but the Indian board has accepted one of his recommendations and asked the five-man national selection panel to immediately pick a pool of fast bowlers who would form the bench strength for the Indian team. The pool would comprise players from India's senior state teams as well as those from the Under-19 level. "Anil Kumble, when he was the chairman of the NCA, had recommended that we gather a pool of fast bowlers who can be monitored round the clock through the year even during the off season," Sanjay Jagdale, the BCCI secretary, told ESPNcricinfo. Kumble's suggestion, part of his vision plan for the NCA, was instantly liked by Jagdale, a former selector, who tabled the point in front of the BCCI office bearers and they readily gave their approval. "I liked the idea which we discussed and the members agreed. I have asked the selectors to send names of fast bowlers from the Under-19 and the senior state squads," Jagdale said. "The idea is to have a ready pool of bowlers who can be given all the help to keep them match ready when the need arises." It is understood that the national selectors are more than happy to give their suggestions and will send a list to Jagdale as soon as possible. Reportedly, the selection panel, led by Kris Srikkanth, will nominate no more than 15 fast bowlers. Jagdale pointed out the pool would be monitored through the year and mostly spend time at the NCA. It is likely that a specialist coach could be appointed in a paid job to look after the fast bowlers. Venkatesh Prasad, the former India fast bowler, who was India's bowling coach between 2007 and 2009 had given a 10-point plan on fast bowling to the BCCI during the tour of England in 2007. One specific point dealt with creating a pool of fast bowlers, who, Prasad noted, should be monitored by a specialist coach round the clock. The problem is our next overseas tour on fast wickets in 2 years away, i.e. end of 2013 (South Africa). By then we would have done well on flat pitches of India and Sri Lanka, and probably everyone would have forgotten about finding good pace bowlers.
express bowling Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 ^ There must be a NewZealand and Zim tour in the next 2 years.
