rkt.india Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 New Delhi: At a time when there is a question mark over the fitness of two of India's best fast bowlers, Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma ahead of the 4-match Test series vs Australia, NDTV has learnt that BCCI Secretary Sanjay Jagdale has written a letter to the BCCI Selection Committee. Jagdale has proposed a pool of bowlers who will be monitored at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. "It is proposed to create a pool of bowlers and keep them under monitoring at the NCA (National Cricket Academy) throughout the year," said the letter signed by BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale. He has also requested the members to suggest 10-15 names of current talents who are representing the Indian team and those who can, in future. "You are requested to kindly suggest around 10/15 names of current/promising/potential talents who are representing the Indian team and those who can, in future. "In this regard please get in touch with the Chairman Selection committee Mr.Srikanth at the earliest and forward your suggestions to him," the letter added. This is being seen as a long term method to try and cut down on paying a heavy price on overseas tours due to unfit bowlers. Lord Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 yeah create deep enough pool n push bowlers like Mithun n Vinay into it
Blue Panther Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I am sure srikkanth and co. would not take this seriously. Nechim won't get a chance even if they chose a pool of bowlers.
MCcricket Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I have a feeling maybe someone who matters is aware of ICF, GOOD DECISIONS , late but atleast in the right direction. Now we need to have ,Aaron ,Rahul Shukla, Nechim Ahmed, Gony, Dinda, Anwar Ahmed, Shami AHMED, kAMRAN kHAN, Sudeep tyagi, VRV,Parmeswaram, Suyal in that pool also WIDLCARDS WHO HAVE SPEED POTENTIAL BUT NOT PICKED UP TO BE GROOMED,Rehan Khan, Abishek Tamark. We need to have a fast bowler, scouting and grooming talent or a good bowling coach, so that bowlers dont loose speeed, build strength, get faster , learn skills, also locat state associations do not over use them.
Needforspeed Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Good, if it is a sincere effort. Bad, if it is just an effort to promote Tenvic like organizations and to cover themselves. If they really mean it and selectors do it without any bias..its the best thing that could've happened to Indian cricket in a long time.
Needforspeed Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Check out this article on how they pick em in South Africa. http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/546505.html Would like to highlight some parts of the article. Kirsten believes there is no formula to determine when someone should be absorbed into the mainstream but thinks that CSA have solid enough structures to ensure they do not miss any talented players. Anton Ferreira, CSA's manager of coaching, said all the provincial affiliates have area coordinators and scouts, and the rural cricket week also helps spot future stars. "Once we see a talented player, we absorb them into the mainstream, where we can assess and monitor them," Ferreira said. "A lot of their early learning has to do with how they are exposed to the game. Sometimes you'll find it is a passionate teacher or a family member who introduces them to it. Then they get more specialised coaching later on." Steyn thinks it's because, unlike bowlers, batsmen can be coached. "Batsmen can be taught, but the most important thing about fast bowling is natural talent. We're not going to find our next fast bowler from the best school, but we'll have to find who is the most natural."
Old guy Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 i think this is step n right direction and abt dinda being selected in this camp i think he is very very close to get selected in national team. first innings 5 wickets against baroda 2nd innings in 1-2 overs he gets 2 wickets pathan went wicketless bowled 30 overs.
bulbul Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 yeah create deep enough pool n push bowlers like Mithun n Vinay into it pathan ? Ok he will be leading spinners group :giggle:
carnish Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Great step... hope they don't pick bowlers like aravind and bhuvaneswar into these camps...
chainsmoker1985 Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Great step... hope they don't pick bowlers like aravind and bhuvaneswar into these camps... :two_thumbs_up: Even I don't like Aravind and Bhuvneshwar kumar. BK is another PK or VK, thats it. Nothing special
Cricket Tragic Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 They need to pick the right bowlers though. It's no point having a pool of crap.
vishalvirsingh Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Dinda seems to be making a Joke of selectors by picking up bundles of wickets every time he gets the ball- best thing he is not over bowling to get his wickets...I have been informed he is bowling close to 140K regulalrly.....we have sent two under 133K bowlers to tour australia where as we have a 140K bowler bowling on indian domestic circuit and Looting wickets.... As on today Ishant cannot be replaced by Vk or mithun and if it happens our Attack genuinely bcomes 4th grade from Ist grade...... Zak as on today is a 2nd grade bowler..same about Ishu as both fitness is a question mark....I feel umesh will unleash himself n bag a fifer in first test innings itself.... Mithun n VK are not international bowlers n I hope they don't play tests in OZ.

You are being over dramatic, Zaheer cannot be graded as 2 nd grade player or Ishant, all players being fit our attack is very good, it is our backup , selectors have picked duds.
FreakazoiD Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 This is just ridiculous. Are they implying that such a pool didn't already exist? Sack these BCCI jokers who know little else than counting money
G_B_ Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 hmm would have been awesome if Aaron would have been fit. i would say one of the fastest units India has fielded

Sack these BCCI jokers who know little else than counting money you cant completely blame them MRF pace academy, whats their record like? Surely they exist to promote pace bowlers. Even Zaheer needed to have a county stint before he came back as the finished article. Thats Dennis Lillee training the bowlers. Over so many years of operation good international standard pacers they produced are Zaheer and Srinath.

Even our BCCI academies hold 2-3 week camps. How they are gonna make players or refine bowlers in that short period of time.
