chainsmoker1985 Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 thing is he would ve done better then ishant cos his natural length is better well he has age with him next time i guess IMO, next time should not be an option in any player's mind. He should have stayed fit and try to firm his place in Indian team just like VK did.. There's a lot of competition these days. So, you should grab every opportunity that comes our way. Now, VK confirming his place in Indian team means Varun Aaron will have to wait for atleast 1 year to get his chance
Kean0 Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I would not consider any of the guys mentioned in the first post as fats bowlers. Hitting the 90mph mark one ball in an innings does not make you fast. Fast bowlers are considered to be the likes of Brett Lee, Alan Donald, Shoaib Akhter, Tait. Now these guys were fast. The guys mentioned in this post at merely medium fast blowers.

The guys mentioned in this post at merely medium fast blowers. You should watch Brett Lee, Shoaib Akhter and Alan Donald their initial matches of their career. They were all bowling at 90 miles more often, then at the age of 27-30, as they got stronger and fitter and at the peak of their career, they started bowling higher speeds. Same was the case even Shaun Tait. Now we have so many prospects in international crickets. So, it depends on them who goes on to become a tear-away fast bowler in coming future. Definitely their fitness and grooming is very very important. I am sure out of these10-12 prospects, we will see atleast 3-4 tear-away pacemen in future.
Kean0 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Those were express bowler. I dont believe the term "Express Bowler" is officially used by the ICC when describing a bowler. You are either Fast, Fast-Medium, Medium. Therefore describing an "Express Bowler" would be a Fast bowler.

Valid point that most of these fast bowlers hit their primes in the latter pat of their career. I do not feel any of the people mentioned in the first post have the potential to go on and become Fast bowlers. Steyn will not get any faster. The boy Milne from NZ has potential, he is bowling pretty quick at the age of 19, which is impressive stuff. Makes me sad to say we actually do not have ANY Fast bowlers in the world. Barring Steyn who can call himself almost fast!

Give me the likes of Akram and McGrath over Shoaib and Brett Lee any day.

Barring Steyn who can call himself almost fast! OK Let me clear it. I am not going to talk about Steyn here. Steyn is already on his prime. Then comes Pattinson, who is only 21-22, he had touched 153 in Melbourne test. Cummins has also touched 150 k at the age of 19. Umesh Yadav is 24 and he has gone upto 151 k. Ishant is 23-24 and his fastest is 152. We have Varun Aaron in domestic circuit, who is only 21 and his fastest in a domestic match is 153 k. Adam Milne is only 20 and is already bowling around 145-150. Marchant de Lange is 21 and has gone up to 150 k. So many has already touched 150k like its a child's play. I mean, there are so many genuine quicks who are starting their career at a very young age and hopefully some of them will surely turn into another Shoaib and Brett Lee. We, actually has a current example of Peter Siddle who used to bowl at 135-140 but now, he has turned into a genuine quick and guess what his age is, 27+. That proves a point.

(thats why i watned to rest yadav for 2 games) with our conditionsi odnt think we will produce many genuine quick bowlers but once we dp produce should be trained, coached with extreme care cos these guys are match winners i cant wait for next series abroad when umesh, aaron and hopefully dinda would be there :P that not a bad attack with pk as a good swing bowler..maybe that mad man sreesanth (he has rare talent :(( )
adi B Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 oh hell yeah, india trying their best to bring the era of fast bowling back by playing vinee marshal nd praveen garner
Kean0 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I think we need to clarify what is considered Fast here. Fast - 150-160 kmph Medium Fast - 140-150 kmph Medium 135-140 kmph Throwing one delivery at 150 kmph does NOT make you a fast bowler. Would you guys agree?

Pakistan produce fast bowlers in very similar condition to India. Sri Lanks produced Malinga. I dont think you can put condition down as a reason.

Would want to tweak the speeds a bit. generally anything over 90 mph is considered fast which equates to 145-146 kph. I doubt likes of Holding, Marshall etc. bowled 150+ consistently. Fast - 145 kph+ Fast Medium - 136 to 145 kph Medium Fast - 128 to 135 kph Medium - 115 to 127 kph

Kean0 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 He is an Australian with Dutch heritage. Fair point. Any reason for the others i mention?
Kean0 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Pace is not everything. How many of these fast bowlers are among the greatest of all time? But then again i was commenting on the thread topic, which is about speedy bowlers.
daryl1985 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Fair point. Any reason for the others i mention? No. I think it is about culture more than anything. India have a batting culture whereas fast bowlers are worshipped in Pakistan. Another reason i have seen people give on this forum is that youngsters play cricket with a tennis ball in India and Pakistani youngsters play tape-ball cricket but that is something i don't really know about. India have had a few bowlers who have hit the upper 140's but few of them have maintained it.
rabinjackman Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 any bowler will resigne from his proffession if aske dto bowl in ranji matches on our dead pitches thats is y peeps with talent stick to batting or a non cricketing field

I dont think you can put condition down as a reason. lol pakistan have idols who are fast bowlers ..and honestly there is no one reason.. wht i am saying is sudden increase in speeds is cos of conditions see how siddle increased pace,hilfy... yadav in australia in india now we will se more quicker bowlers as now some guys want to bowl faster and they are getting in team ahead of others in pakistan there is sayig that htey dont even look at medium pacers.. if u wanna get picked bowl fast i think that owuld be one of the reason and in sub continent if u can reverse u can be deadly.ok tell me why are all english pacers bowling in 130's in abu dhabi ? hope u got wht im trying to say :P
