I am not being sarcastic and truly honest when I say this,he was unlucky even yesterday....bolwed a real probing spell but no wickets.

Should never have been rushed back into the test side. Bowling lots of overs in FC cricket would have helped while he warmed benches during 1st and 2nd test. Even now looks short of match practice.

He had such a good seam and wrist position,He used to whip the wrists hard which got him pace and bounce off the pitch. Ind vs australia in 2008- The seam is great and is for a inswinger and the ball really jagged back Its such mystery that after venky went he just lost it and all the coaching staff have failed to help him

He did not lost it after Venky went. He lost it during Venky. In fact, Venky made those changes into his bowling which I first observed after IPL 2009 during WT0 2009 in England. He bowled quick and good in IPL 2009 but could not get much success due to spin friendly and slow nature of surfaces in the late SA season, but as the WT20 started I saw sudden change in his approach from the start of warmup games itself. He was slow and with no seam and swing and that happened when Venky was the coach. Same trend continued in WI 3 ODI series. he was awful on SA tour as well, as he was not able to cope with those change in his action but before IPL 2011 he again went to his old approach and looked a different bowler again clocking high speeds and on WI tour after IPL, he took 22 wickets.

He's just unlucky, perhaps needs to change the spelling of his name or something.

He never has been able to get the seam position back .I saw some imporvement in last test where atleast some balls were coming better.Hope new coach works on it as it is essential.

Yes. His seam is still an issue because if one does not have godo seam, it is hard to be a successful fast bowler because you can bowl as quick as any but wicket will only come if bring movement with pace, jut pace is not enough, one needs to move the ball. He did that in Wi. and saying that he lost his seam and action after Venky is wrong, it had happend during Venky when Venky wanted him to develop an outswinger and leg cutter which imbalanced his action and spoiled him for 2 years..

yes wobbly seam is a big issus still. He has pace back and if he can work on that seam, he will be dangerous again because he will get meovement and do not know what bowling coached have done in the team, cannot work on this basic thing. Good seam is a basic aspect of fast bowling, one can never be a successful fast bowler without good seam position.

What's wrong with a coach trying to add more variations to a bowler? If he doesn't understand his own bowling and cannot accommodate new skills to improve how is that the coach s fault. I think Venky has been better than some of the other coaches we have tried in recent times and gets undue criticism.infact our seam bowlers were doing better under him IMHO . I like ishant but right now his unluckinessis more to do with how lost he looks than anything else.

Ishant is on record saying he tried to copy zaheer khan by himself so blaming venky is not right.He was removed after 2009 wt20 and never got a chance to rectify it .

Yes. Certainly wrong. Bowlers learn things slowly and with exprience, suden overnight changes do not happen. It just spoils them. Irfan and Ishant are victims of that. No one can chnge his approach and action overnight especially while playing internationa matches. It does leave one anywhere. These things are done in the nets in off season like Yadav did. He too chanegs his approach and action but he did it in the nest with his coach subroto Mukarjee not during international matches. IF one do such in matches, he will be thsashed and lose the confidence. There are lot of bowlers who have changed their actions, recently Mitchell Johnson but that when he was out of the team. You must have heard Wasim Akram. He himself said that when he first came he did not know how to swing the ball. he was a bowler who would just look to bowl fast at that time and Imran did not change that and only asked him to bowl fast and he learnt swing and other tricks 4-5 years later into his career as he played more and more, he started learning thing, not overnight.

Yes. Ishant did say but some must have talked to him regarding suich changes. He wont do it on its own and who else then the bowlinhg coach and if he had done that without the advice of coach, coach must have talked to him about that.
