special K Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Funny you saying so in the World Cup Cricket thread :haha: Nothing gets better than the World Cup and that's why the winners are known as "World Champions". But you wouldn't know :haha: 20/20 winners were known as world champions. When the test championship comes along we'll be the champions at that. We are the true cricket champions anyway. No.1 test side = true world champions.

Sarkar Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 @prinzo in history of cricket no other team choked like choke africa. On any day i ll take world cup over test series victories.
special K Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 That's why you guys will never be good at test cricket. Don't have enough commitment to the truest form of the game. When the test championship happens the ODI world cup will be insignificant.

Listen Kellogs any day odis over tests yes tests are the real cricket we won a test series vs we won a world cup there is difference.

In denial young man. Never won a test series in Aus or SA. ODI's only existed 40 years. 20/20 will overtake ODI cricket and even that cannot be compared to tests..
NareshK Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Comparing a World Cup win to a test series win ? The only place where people would even consider that a valid comparison is this forum. World Cup is pretty much the most important competition to Indian cricket fans. Nothing tops that. On the other hand, other than a few die hard fans and retired people, nobody follows test cricket all that much.:winky:

Sundar88 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 No I'd never trade a world cup win for anything. I don't care if India lose every single match they play as long as we keep winning world cups. If I remember correctly, the next 3 world T20's will be held in the subcontinent, we should try to win at least 2 of them, ideally all and most importantly, start building a team for the 2015 world cup. We will need Aaron and Yadav.
Cricket Tragic Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012  comparing test series wins in Aus/SA with a T20 win.

deathmonger Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 And out of all test playing nations? Where does India fit here? Above Bangladesh I think.:hehe: above zimbabwe at least which cannot be said for england. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/sport/cricket/england_v_new_zealand/427262.stm :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

They have been good for a long time. You guys have been **** for so long and only now you are a bit better. We may not have won a series in Aus and SA but we have won thrice in England (which is surprise surprise the same number of times Eng has won here and one of them includes a series in the 1930s when we were just starting out :giggle:).
Sooda Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Im sure I said it prior to the WC win too- would swap it for a series win in Aus and/or Eng

SA hasn't been good for a long time. Only the last couple of years have they won more tests then they've lost overall. In terms of win/loss ratio it's Australia, England and then the rest.
deathmonger Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 SA hasn't been good for a long time. Only the last couple of years have they won more tests then they've lost overall. In terms of win/loss ratio it's Australia, England and then the rest. Aus are good yes. England no. Their win loss ratio is inflated due to beating teams when they are just starting out. In the last 30-40 years once those teams have got a headstart England have been mediocre. Pakistan have won more series in England than they have in Pakistan. India and England have won same number of series in each other's soil. One of England's series win's came in 1933 when we were playing our third or fourth match. Even in South Afric they have'nt won for a long time. All their wins in SA are from the 19th century :hysterical: or early 20th century.
Sundar88 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 SA hasn't been good for a long time. Only the last couple of years have they won more tests then they've lost overall. In terms of win/loss ratio it's Australia, England and then the rest. First off,it doesn't matter how many times you repeat yourself, it is not going to make your argument anymore valid. Australia and England started playing Cricket way before any other country so they're OBVIOUSLY expected to have had a headstart. In England's case, most of these wins came when England and Australia were the only major teams in Cricket. If you compare their wins/losses in modern times I'm sure England's record would look very ordinary. Australia however have always been a strong team throughout the history of Cricket and I'm sure their win/loss ratio would be higher in any time period anywhere in the world. Secondly, nobody is going to remember how many matches a particular team has won against another team in a certain part of the world whereas EVERYONE remembers how many times a particular team has won the world cup and to a lesser extent, other ICC trophies. This is exactly why world cups>head-to-head in the bigger picture. What's the point in winning meaningless bilateral series if you're going to flop time and again at the grandest stage. Thirdly, SA has been a very competitive team ever since they came back to International Cricket in 1992, much more so than England who were considered minnows throughout the 90's and early 2000's. Lastly, even in Test Cricket which you consider the best format of Cricket because it is the only version of Cricket your team is fairly good at, England have only been rated no.1 for about 4 months whereas Australia have been no.1 for several years and India have been no.1 for nearly 2 years. England has a long way to go before you can claim they're a better Cricketing nation overall.
