This Aus team was not extraordinary and actually was as good as SL, Pak, England, SA, etc., not much better than any other team in the tournament. Is this some kind of joke? This Aus team won Champions Trophy dominantly and won ODI series in every country in last 3 years in every country including SA(2-1) Eng (6-1) India (4-2) and Srl. How many times have those Eng Pak and Srl teams performed simiarly during that time.U are clearly underestimating this Aus team by a long distance comparing with a Pak and Eng teams who were poor at best at that times. U are clearly confusing Aus test team with their ODI team. Pressure is one thing but playing in home conditions is always an advantage especially for subcontinent teams. Players know they wont be tested by pace, bouncer, and swing. Spinners will come into play and we play spinners better than most. Pressure is the main thing. Similarly Aus play seam better than most teams England play swing than most teams but how many teams have won a world cup at home if winning WC at home is easier than away ?

adi B Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 the biggest happiness that i had on an overseas victory was the port of spain win in 2002, i was like 10 years old nd my dad nd i watched the game till midnight, it was the greatest feeling, bcoz b4 that what i heard or saw were only thrashings outside sc.... so for me overseas victories are also a moment to remember nd cherish

We do remember about wins in adelaide , multan but hardly mention about that win in the west indies inspite of it being a starting point of our overseas wins . It was a great match too , Windies were comfortable in the chase when some quick wickets fell and Chanderpaul as usual was rock solid . It looked like Windies may snatch a draw but Cuffy got out at the perfect time before it could have been more late , caught by bangar I think of a full toss by Zaheer. Wont forget that special moment either but Wc is just Wc.

But this world cup, where we were guaranteed a spot in the QF, and we had to win only 3 matches, wasn't as impressive as our run in the 2003 wc. I wouldn't shed any tears if we lose all test and ODI series between now and 2015 and then go on to win the next WC. thats a huge risk,u mean lose at home to nzl,poms,aus nd then who knows some main players getting injured in wc and it would be next to impossible to win it

This world cup was lot more tougher than 2003 as we have to play 3 do or die knock out games which u lost its over.The pressure is unique.In 2003 the only similar game we played was against Kenya.U are comparing this with 2003? Even in Super six we never under similar pressure to 2011 wc since we played Kenya first and had carried points from group stage. This world cup we faced far more sterner challenges and came through everything. And winning at home is far more important than anywhere else ultimately.Hom many teams have won at home apart from us? this wc was way easier than 2003 nd much expected nd favourites ...2003 was the best wc for me barring that final....but yeah nothing can replace this wc win

Which of the two victories Indian fans cherish the most ? The 1983 world cup win or the 1986 series win in England ? First up 1986 win in England is remembered by quite a few, including yours truly. Not my mistake if your priority is WC cricket Seriously though, what kind of insular logic is this? Give me WC win and eff everything else? That seems more like a defensive mechanism to make us feel good. And if anything seems very Indiansque in nature. I mean when Windies won in 1975 they went on to dominate WC for 15 or so years. When Australia won in 1987 it kickstarted their layin down the pipeline for next 20 years domination. Even when Pakistan won in 1992 they were amongst the world top 2-3 teams for better part of decade. And hows India, 2011 WC champion responds? Whitewashed in England, seemingly whitewashed in Australia, 1-0 against lowly West Indies. Simply put we must be in the running of the worst WC champions ever. Now if that rocks your boat go for it :hatsoff:

I mean Aus record in India is no good. We are strong at home but if you can't even do that then whats the point? Because no other cricketing power's record is so lopsided when it comes to at home vs overseas performance. Aussies, for example, have been very strong in India. In fact Indian fans of 50s and 60s absolutely loved them since they would always send their first XI, unlike say England. Thus you have Australia with great record in India. Yes their performance in 90s and 2000s has not been a dominant one but surely they have been competent enough? How does Indian performance in Australia compare? We never won any series. And our best effort is a drawn series (personally I still maintain our lost chance was the drawn series in 86 where we should have won 2-0). Oustide of India we have had very little success. And specially in cricketing superpowers like Australia, West Indies, South Africa, England and Pakistan. So obviously were get criticized for that...rather fairly actually. xxx
