Not just Virat, you have to be patient with anyone who makes debut at the test level. Some have been unlucky in the past but Kohli has been lucky enough to be given chances- hope he does well. And I still dont approve of his attitude :P

Kohli has a lot of attitude and fight in him. The way he came back in odis after he was dropped from the team and performed was an eye opener. He seems to be doing the same in Tests as well. Hope selectors give Rohit a chance as well in Tests soon.

Pujara will do far better if given the same number of opportunities (hopefully). I am glad that Virat is showing a learning curve but still one 50 in twelve overseas innings is nothing to gloat about.

lots of other ppl have struggled just as badly. how many matches did it take before ponting scored a 100 in india.

wrong thread, yadav would have scored a ton had kohli given him support.... yadav looks a batsman who has a good enough defense nd doesnt bother to fish the bat around the off stump.... this guy along with the indian pacers is the only reason i will watch adelaide test

there shouldn't be sc/non sc team. if sehwag can't perform outside sc drop him. mukund will do well in sc, not sehwag standards but good enough.

are u crazy? no one cared? is it his fault that batsmen were falling around him? indian bench looks promising. all the guys who have done reasonably well on this tour are the rookies - virat, ashwin, umesh.

Fine knock, but could improve though, he could sure cut down the fishing outside offstump. But when he got it right, was delightful to watch. One of the positives to emerge from this humiliation - him and Umesh - and to a certain degree Ashwin too, who likes like an ideal lower order batsman.

I've been saying this for quite some time now that Virat has got what it takes to succeed at Test level. He might not have the technique of Sachin (who does anyway?) but what he has is the main thing that distinguishes between mere talented cricketers and Test cricketers - he has determination and a will to scrap. A Test cricketer does require talent but he need not be a Sachin to be able to bat everywhere. The few holes or inabilities are made up by the determination, in a good Test cricketer. And Virat has lots of it. He will come good everywhere in all conditions...may not be as good as Sachin but definitely as good as Lax and Rahul. I have more expectations and belief in Virat than Rohit

True. Therefore it's better to exercise restrain and see where he goes rather than already making him a future ATG. He still has miles to go and tons to prove.

I tell you one thing you cannot compare the two. For a batsman who has born and brought on bouncy and seaming tracks, it is easier to adjust to slow and low bounce tracks of India rather than a batsman born and brought up on slow and low tracks to adjust straigthaway on the fast and bouncy tracks of Australia and still what Ponting averages in India, below par. A player is a product of the environment and conditions, he has played in from the start of his career. Reverse the situation and think if we had the fast bouncy pitches and Australia had the slow and low bounce pitches who difficult it would have been for their batsmen to adjust and make a mark straightaway and our batsmen would have been used to in these conditions then, but it is not and most of our players find it hard to adjust their game to those conditions because those are tougher conditions for batting and helps bowler so as a batsman they are challenged more and we are not as used to playing genuine pace on fast and bouncy pitches as well as they are.
