Stuge Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Yuvraj Singh, the India batsman, could be ruled out of cricket for as many as six months due to the ongoing treatment of his non-malignant lung tumour. This means he will at least miss the Asia Cup and the IPL, where he captained the Pune Warriors last year. The last time Yuvraj played competitive cricket was the Tests against West Indies last November, and he was originally hoping to return as early as next month's ODI tri-series in Australia. According to PTI, quoting an unnamed source from the IPL, Yuvraj is currently overseas. He has travelled to the United States in order to undergo "advanced treatment" for the tumour following which there will be a period of recuperation expected to take several months as well. This means he would not be available to play in the IPL, which starts on April 4. The unnamed IPL source said it could take up to "six months" for Yuvraj to return to cricket. It has been a nightmare run for Yuvraj since his Man-of-the-Series performance in India's World Cup victory last year. An injury kept him out of the tour of the West Indies and his contribution to India's tour of England was cut short by a finger injury sustained during the Nottingham Test. He returned for the home Tests against West Indies, and was left out of the side for the third Test, in November. http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/current/story/550983.html I'm sure he must be in Sloan-Kettering,New york.
Cricketics Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Yuvraj in U.S for some treatment - Might be out for longer time :(( sucks really. Such talent is being kept away from the game because of this problem. Hope he recovers soon Btw, any idea of the best lung cancer hospitals in U.S? He tweeted that it's snowing outside. Trying to figure out where he could be. I would love to go little far to meet him in person. https://www.google.com/url?url=http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/top-stories/Yuvraj-Singh-responding-well-to-treatment-in-the-US/articleshow/11633409.cms&rct=j&sa=X&ei=S38hT8i4O8br0gG6wvXLCA&ved=0CDIQ-AsoATAA&q=yuvraj+singh&usg=AFQjCNEnPOKnFQF3ZTICWqVS5ZJ9SMtSxw
yoda Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Ticz, even though you mean well, he probably wants some personal space and privacy while undergoing treatment.
Cricketics Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Ticz' date=' even though you mean well, he probably wants some personal space and privacy while undergoing treatment.[/quote'] Well thats true, I agree. But I am sure he's living a normal life rite now, like any other celebrity, pain-less just that there is a problem which needs to be sorted out so that it doesn't get bad, so he's getting a treatment done. I hope that's the case

I would love to go little far to meet him in person. I would have to say New York Presbyterian Hospital in NYC or Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN (since his tweet says it is snowing outside).
chainsmoker1985 Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Read this news today. I mean this is already a very big loss for India that our World Cup hero will be missing the major tournament like CB series and Asia Cup, but look at the positive, this problem didn't come up during or before World Cup. You can just guess how big a loss that could have been for us
Laaloo Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 How did the Strong as Punjabi get injured? I mean, is this even possible?
Shunya Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 non-malignant lung tumour....wtf...this can be serious...cricket or no cricket...hope he gets well
Old guy Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 its very serious ..why would any one even think of playing with tumour in lungs? life comes first.. hope he gets better
Blue-no1 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 its very serious ..why would any one even think of playing with tumour in lungs? life comes first.. hope he gets better He did not play knowing he had tumor. During world cup he had vomiting, he thought it was due to stress, it turned out to be a tumor diagnosed as malignant and so he missed the WI series. Post operation the tumor was found to be non-malignant. He seems to have been cured as he stated 1 month ago. It appears like the tumor has come back. It looks more serious than what has been said so far as he is in US for treatment. He is probably in Dana Farber, Mayo or in Seattle. Let us all pray for his quick recovery and good health. Best wishes to our man YS Until then... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrMRX4J32Ys]Yuvraj's Six Sixes in an Over Against England in T20 World Cup 2007 - YouTube[/ame]
Logical Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Read this news today. Do you have any idea how serious lung tumor can be? And yet all you care about is your cricket team with not even one sentence dedicated to his health or even a "get well soon" message.
saneindian Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Apparently the tumour is between the lungs and heart and hence cannot be removed surgically. Cricket can wait, life is more precious. Yuvi needs to get rid of the tumor completely before being back on the cricket field. H ehas the wishes of millions of well wishers and will fight this tough phase out.
Laaloo Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Damn, didnt know it was this serious. Get well soon Yuvi
