Ganguly has played two 'neither here, nor there' knocks worth 35-40 each Laxman hasnt done anything sensational, two typical knocks from him Tendulkar is god, he cannot be dropped. Dravid is captain, he will play. Is there room for Yuvraj in this lineup. If yes, whom do you drop ? I'd leave Laxman out for Yuvraj next Test.

It wasn't the best performance from India but it wasn't that bad either. The bowlers clicked and the batsmen batted well in patches. I think the batsmen will do much better in the next test. They have acclimatized to the conditions and now know what to expect from England. I am willing to give the likes of Laxman and Tendulkar the benefit of the doubt for now.

After Dhoni 50, I feel Laxman might be dropped. If the rain continues and the test ends not lost, Laxman will probably play because of his second innings 39, but I feel he should be the one to go. Yuvraj's fielding will also be a positive.
Lurker Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 VVS has scored atleast one run more than the "GOD" Sachin, plus VVS is the best fielder in the slips for India. Since Indian attack is predominantly pace in this series it would be a disaster to pull your best slip fielder out.

There are no excuses Boss for putting up a poor batting display. When we had a lame bowling attack, we blamed our bowlers for not helping us win test matches overseas. Now we have a bowling attack thats taking 20 wickets regularly overseas but still the results are the same. This is not right. Something must change. And in the two innings, there was not a single leading contribution from the overhyped fab four. We rode on the back of Jaffer, Karthik and Dhoni to put up those numbers. What is the justification for backing experience over youth then ? Look around you. A young Shoaib Malik pulled a 4th innings stunner against Lanka in their own backyard against Murali & Vaas. Do you think our experienced middle order will EVER pull such a stunt ? Replace the entire middle order (barring Dravid) with youth, the results wont be any worse.

living Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Definitely either Ganguly or Laxman should be dropped for Yuvi. It will be interesting, yuvi and dada both left hand bats. Whereas Ganguly has his nice medium pace to offer and Laxman his slip fielding. But since this is team India, Dravid will have a tough time axing someone since he didn't perform himself (unluckily), had he scored a few runs it he would have surely dropped one of them, now its more like 50-50.

Lurker Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 If you have 6 batsman in the team and you have to drop one, you drop one that has fared the poorest. This is not exactly rocket science. It would be nothing sort of favoritism that Sachin scores at a super 26.50 but Ganguly gets dropped who averaged 37 with the bat.
coffee_rules Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Dravid feeling guilty to drop players. I think he has earned atleast 10 test failures in a row for all the contribution he has done in the last 6/7 years. So, I am sure he will have no pain in dropping Laxman for Yuvraj next test.
