MCcricket Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Isn't talk about fast bowlers is a cricket talk? If you are not interested' date=' do not come in the thread. We can have a thread about SRT and his useless 100th 100 every day that is fine for you but if we talk about upcoming fast bowlers that is over hyping according to you. How we over hype these guys? Are we media people? or relate to BCCI? We just found them and talk about. This is not hype. This discussion and awareness of our new talents. It is not just padosis. England, Aussie, and SA fast bowlers are more hyped than ours before they make even their FC debuts.[/quote']:hatsoff::hatsoff::hatsoff::hatsoff:
Vijay.Sharma Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I am not against the help. But they have started a trend like padosis. Hyping up bowlers and then getting a laat on their g**** when they fail. We don't want that.I am not for hyping up bowlers and even I am with you on the fast bowler threads here. I do not opine much in them either. My involvement in this thread is because it is in my nature to provide assistance to someone when I become aware of a need.
Vijay.Sharma Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 OK. but what gives him so much confidence' date= does RAF get to see State level prospects on regular basis? If you do not meet/see state level players on regular basis, you might get impressed by some random club player. I am not saying not to help the talent, but one has to be objective and with experienced eyes for evaluating talents.Only RAF can answer that. You are right, I haven't seen the guy personally but I believe RAF is a decent judge of talent. Moreover it dunn harm much to help someone (whether talented or not). If he is talented then he will make very good use of it. If he aint then I won't feel my assistance was wasted.

Have you watched his bowling video? He looked to have some talent with the ball.
Vijay.Sharma Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Have you watched his bowling video? He looked to have some talent with the ball.Yes I have seen the videos and that is why I was also inclined to take RAF's view. But you can only make out so much from the videos - RAF saw him in person and that is a lot different than watching a video

There have been cases like Mohammed Irfan but guys like Amir have been real finds
DomainK Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 The video is totally inconclusive and the title looks silly without any evidence.
rkt.india Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 First let him participate in NCA's trial for fast bowlers in Ranchi on February 25 and 26.
Stuge Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 First let him participate in NCA's trial for fast bowlers in Ranchi on February 25 and 26. best wishes to him :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up: You guys are doing wonderful job .Keep it up :nice:
Rightarmfast Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Apologies to have kept you waiting ! Thanks to all who are supporting the cause ( Especially VS, RKT , MCC ) ! Hmm, am I qualified to judge someone if he is intl level or not ? NO !!! Do I have some knowledge about sports and athletics and can spot talent ? Some ( I am a national level boxer, martial arts trainer and a long distance athlete ). Why would I help someone who may not be intl level ? Because people like me, VS and RKT believe that instead of sitting and harping here on ICF, it makes more sense to do something for the game and sportsmen/women who are not hyped and have little chances of making it big. Now this guy does look like he is clocking atleast 140, from the video. The other delieveries which I did not record, were seriously quick ( without me exaggerating a word ) This guy comes from a small village of Bihar. Can hardly speak proper Hindi, let alone English. He has never been formally trained and this kid can bowl this quick !!! Imagine had someone like him been in MRF, what would have happened ? Then again, MRF would only take kids from BCCI recognized instt which Bihar Cricket Association isnt ! To add to the woe, Rehan just turned 22 on 8th of Feb which means he cannot participate in the Fast bowler hunt in Ranchi either ! However, I just spoke to a sports mgt guy who sounded interested and said that he can arrange a meeting with Venky and Roger. And if Rehan impresses either of them, then things may look up. He wants Rehan to be in Blore asap. Now, I can do as much as I can. And hence I asked for people to volunteer in whichever way they can. People see things as they are, and ask "Why ?" I see things as they can be, and ask " Why Not ?" Cheers Amit

Rightarmfast Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 UG, Thank You !!! Its most flattering and heartwarming :)
mysterio86 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 UG' date=' Thank You !!! Its most flattering and heartwarming :)[/quote'] :hatsoff: I for one, Bestest of Luck ! :hatsoff: I hope you guys bring this kid some cricket and us fans some serious fun !
The Dark Horse Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Just make sure that this guy is really good/fast. Im not sure if people who dont continuously play/watch cricket can judge the speeds by the naked eye. Making him bowl against local club players/domestics and getting their opinion won't be a bad idea. Anyways good luck.
Raghav_12 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 This is great effort guys. I would have had few concerns, on similar lines as Akshay mentioned, if I was directly involved with this whole thing. Guy that we are trying to support should have some basic talent and athletism to make it big. That has to be assessed first, in a manner best possible from guys involved with this effort. If I spot a guy who looks very good to me, then I'll ask some more knowledgable than me to have a look, as I know how good I would be to do that kind of assessment.:--D. But, here based on what credentials RAF and Rkt has produced, about themselves and about this lad, it looks good call.:two_thumbs_up: All the best guys. Would have been involved if I was in Bangalore. Still, would be ready if I can contribute in any manner.
saneindian Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 RAF If I may ask, does he play for any club in the Senior/Junior Division League in Patna? Not sure if you would know this, but has he played for any of the teams in the Hemu Trophy (the inter district tournament in Bihar)?
Malcolm Merlyn Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Great Effort RAF.well done.Hope Rehan comes out to be better than most of us even think he is.
Prakat Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Good on you guys for actually trying to make a difference. Go for it! If he comes good then all the better, if he doesn't then at least you tried. :good:
cybervickey Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 kudos for actually doing something rather than *****ing about things.
