rkt.india Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Å¢ll powerful teams go through a period of transition this was BCCI President N. SrinivasanÃÔ take on the future of Indian cricket team, but he gave no indication as to when the phase-out of seniors will happen. Ū do not know when it will happen. I am not a selector, but history has shown that all powerful teams go through a period of transition. It is not fair to talk of seniors right now, Srinivasan said. ŵhey (the seniors) are still there, and it is for the selectors to decide what they want to do, he told õhe Week magazine in an interview. The Indian team is going through one of its worst phases in recent memory, having suffered consecutive Test whitewashes in England and Australia besides strong speculation of rift between skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and senior members such as Virender Sehwag in the team. Talking about the performance of the team, Srinivasan said, Űn the field, we did well in India, but our performance in Australia in Tests has led to lot of criticism. We should not make any comments while the tour is on. Let us wait and see. Apart from the poor show on the field, Indian cricket is also grappling with sponsorship and broadcast rows, but the BCCI chief was unfazed. Űn the broadcaster issue, the matter is before the court, so I cannot speak much except that it is a contractual matter and the BCCI has exercised its rights under the contract, Srinivasan said, referring to the termination of the broadcast deal with Nimbus following which the company took the matter to court. Å¢s regards sponsorship, the BCCI has appreciated the role Sahara has played. In every relationship, there are stressful times. We have dealt with it, I think, to the sponsorÃÔ and the BCCIÃÔ satisfaction, Srinivasan explained, referring to the recent row with the corporate giant during which it threatened to pull out both as India sponsor and an IPL team owner. The BCCI is also at loggerheads with the ICC with regards to the recent Woolf Committee recommendations seeking an overhaul of the governing bodyÃÔ administrative structure. ŵhe report talks of fundamental changes in the way the ICC is structured. It wants the number of full members to be increased from 10 to 12. It proposes a Board of Directors which includes four independent directors. Ūt also proposes that the ICC director cannot hold a post in the fullÃÃŽember board. The role and position of full members are being reduced, which is not acceptable to the ICC, he said. Srinivasan brushed aside suggestions that he was arrogant in his handling of issues. Ū am not arrogant, I donÃÕ think so. I believe in systems and processes, coming from the background that I do. However, it is a fact that now BCCI meetings are of shorter duration, to the point. Ū have a tenure and I will move on after that. The BCCI is not my grandfatherÃÔ company, he said. http://www.thehindu.com/sport/cricket/article2928229.ece
rajmarie Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Ha Ha Ha....this BCCI ***got..I mean president should know that we Indian fans dont mind teams going through transition....but where is that ****ing transition. In test..we have played the same ****ing powerfull team again & again...& have come croppers in all of them. There is no plan....or any inquiry also as he himself shot it down after both Eng & Aus tour..so as to protest his own selfish interest & incompetence
The Realist Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Erm all sports teams go through transitions its just that those who aspire to be be the best always have a strategy in place. Pathetic response from a clueless organisation

chainsmoker1985 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Is BKL ko bolo- To go through transition, a team has to give chances to youngsters. This l*nd ka tuppa is just giving an excuse so that they don't have to do the inquiry of India's recent test performances.
Prakat Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Apni baat karo Srinivasji, kahan powerful teams pe atak gaye.
Lurker Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 The whole Indian cricket setup - BCCI, Selectors, cricket players - kinda remind me of Wall Street and Real Estate fiasco. Just like Wall Street, there are some key players (pun intentional) who have perfomed poorly but now the masses(read fans) are supposed to forget their losses and bail them out. Nobody seems to claim any responsibility. The BCCI points to Selectors who point to captain who points back to Selectors who look around and start asking for tax break from Government of India because they are a charity organization. :giggle::giggle::giggle:
Ultimate_Game Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 But how exactly has India gone through a transition :dontknow: We went 0-8 and through this tri-series debacle with the same tried and trusted bunch. If we were in the midst of transition with youngsters trying to come to grips with intl cricket we would have understood and taken the results without much fuss but to say we failed due to transition is plain wrong!
Momos Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Completly agree to the OP..It is quite evident that good teams like Australia and SA were going through transtions given that an average teams Like India was dominating. But for a mere temporary blip it was,The aussies are gonna rise again...B->
Stuge Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 what does he mean by Powerful ? is that really correct to call any team powerful .I thought teams are STRONG ,but Powerful or does he means this
maniac Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Eventhough BCCI has been mis-managing the talent pool due to some questionable desicions,I agree with Sirinivasan here. As far as bowling goes BCCI has taken some good steps....Inducting guys like Aaron,Yadav,Ojha,Ashwin in place of Nehra,Munaf,Sreeshanth,RP definetely should be complemented. I don't want to sound like a broken record but I completely agree with the team they have put together for the last 2 series but their main challenge is how they will handle the transition or passing of the torch going forward smoothly. I seriously wonder and would love to know what different team selection people here would have come up with after England disaster. I know people here will start making fun of me but I will go ahead and say I am glad that BCCI for all the flaws it has is not like PCB or WICB and has shown atleast some intent instead of taking panicky knee-jerk reactions.
Deleted_User_1 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 This Srinivasan is the stupidest person I have seen to govern any entity. Fecker should be stoned!
zep1706 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 This Srinivasan is the stupidest person I have seen to govern any entity. Fecker should be stoned! He is not stupid. He just doesn't care about Indian cricket, as long as his own interests are being taken care of.
Deleted_User_1 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 He is not stupid. He just doesn't care about Indian cricket' date=' as long as his own interests are being taken care of.[/quote'] He is stupid as far as cricket is concerned, especially when he does not realize that test and ODI cricket are two different animals!
mastana Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 BKL Srinivasan all powerful boards go through transition as well. Salle tu kab jayega.
Ultimate_Game Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Srinivasan is ensuring Indian fans know how for Pakis felt when Butt was around :haha:
