Sid Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Hmmm.okay but Jaya has been best kaptaan in this series by far.Today may be was his off day.Reason could be he didnt wanted Herath to bowl in PPs and trusted Malinga like any other kaptaan would do.
Yoda-esque Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 He would have been taken to the cleaners after the 30th over..
hari504504 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 ^ when Malinga was being thrashed everywhere ? ..surely at some point before the full monty was dished out to Malinga, Jaya could've thought about tossing the ball to Herath. I was quite anxious to see how Kohli and Raina would cope against Herath considering they were just smacking everyone else to all parts.
vvvslaxman Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Nobody would have imagined Malinga would be match ka mujrim

Hindsight is a good thing to have, but Herath would have been hit as well...Raina and Kohli are both very good players of spin
Sidhoni Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Maybe because he has put on a lot of weight :giggle:
rkt.india Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Mahela did not bring Herath for PP and Malinga was saved for PPs and Herath too would have been hit in PPs.
amiret Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 herath was bowling well . but i think jaya was wary of Raina slogging a few over midwkt off Herath.
rkt.india Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Lol now you are.comparing raina to srt and viru.lol.you out of your mind.ok how.many runs rqina scored in enhalnd and at what avg? Sent from my GT-I9103 using Tapatalk why not compare if criteria is performance or you to go for past reputations and records. Raina even had a played a crucial in our win at Adelaide against Aus with quick fire runs over 100 SR. Raina was second highest run getter in that ODI series in England and scored 198 runs at an average of 40 and SR of 113, scored runs when Indian team was down 3-4 wickets for not too many.
saneindian Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Let's not forget Raina's contribtution Kohli deservedly is hogging the limelight. But let's not forget the key role of Raina in that partnership. Under pressure, maybe playing for his spot in the side , comes out and plays nervelessly in another crucial chase, that too tonking the bowling at will. Couldn't have timed this knock better.
Sid Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 This is Raina's 2nd crucial contribution of this series after Adelaide match.
zaqw222222 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Agreed, Kohli's innings was great but others also played there parts perfectly. Good start by Sachin-Sehwag, Gambhir was great with running 1's and 2's and Raina supported Kohli superbly
zep1706 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 He is as good a death over player as anyone unless he gets a few short ones :P
