punjabi_khota Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Expected. Part of the blame goes to those who let her do a stand up which was not really stand up. It is not seinfeld where you can insult handicapped, jews, white, blacks.. pretty much anything and still draw applause. It requires lot of skill, experience to pull off something like this. Even hardcore comedians will be struggling to convince our Indians that it was meant to be a joke. I still remember how Aishwarya babbled in Letterman show "We are not like you we don't get appointment to meet our parents like you" .. i was like WTF !! :WTF: Whats wrong with what she said ? He was pulling her leg, she pulled his ? I thought that line was the smartest thing to come out of Ash's mouth. :haha::hatsoff:
maniac Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 This comedy is more obnoxious than offensive seriously and the kid's delivery of her lines reminded me of a more offensive version of the topic India my country by a 7th grade kid in an eloctution competition rather than an actual standup
Zelch Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Hope Desi parents dont get inspired by this and make it another spelling bee like obsession
vvvslaxman Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 :WTF: Whats wrong with what she said ? He was pulling her leg' date=' she pulled his ? I thought that line was the smartest thing to come out of Ash's mouth. :haha::hatsoff:[/quote'] It was more a reflection of her ignorance. If she could pull his leg with a fact i would agree. In this case it was not true. You don't make appointment to meet your parents here as she claims.
Raghav_12 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Obnoxious and offensive. As somebody pointed out, it's more of a reflection in the atmoshphere she has been brought up. Same jokes may have felt okay if coming out of an adults mouth.
ganeshran Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 It was more a reflection of her ignorance. If she could pull his leg with a fact i would agree. In this case it was not true. You don't make appointment to meet your parents here as she claims. She was exaggerating to make a point :dontknow:

vvvslaxman Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 And you think what they joke about India is absolutely true? No. living with parents is something they make fun of. Back in India living with parents is something common. To put that point across what she said was really stupid. Frankly she looked dumb.
vvvslaxman Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 That was instant reaction from all of us who saw that video live. Letterman touched her raw nerve. Probably your perspective is different.
yoda Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I am with the brown bastard on that one. Letterman made fun of Indians living with their parents and she came back with a quick retort. People do have to make an appointment with their parents here by the way, in the sense they have to call, make sure it's ok to visit them, etc. There is a huge cultural difference between the two countries and it was stupid of Dave to bring that up actually. Overall I agree Ash looked pretty dumb, except for that one retort which was a good one.
