rkt.india Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Dhoni's 183 was of a different level. He had hit 10 sixes in that and no batsman around him could score more than 39 in Indian innings and that was brutal. This inning was silken.
rkt.india Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Both were great. Today's knock by Virat is special considering that it was against Padosis and the Indian team is "weaker" compared to how we were back then. But both are special knocks. Team is weaker how? This is World Champion team.
vamos_rafa Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 MSD IMO. It was not totally expected of him to play that knock. Conditions were really hot then. This pitch was a bit flatter than the Jaipur one. And most importananly he finished the game. PS I am not taking anything from Kohli. This was a more classier knock.
Sidhoni Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 MSD's knock... It was a brutal knock and it was fitting to see him finishing that game with a 6.
bajrang Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 with kohli it was bit expected. still its against pak, and against "supposedly"best bowling lineup in asia cup. but if you leave patriotism aside, dhoni 183 against srilanka came much eariler in his career, ajmal aint no murli, vaas still miles better then anything pak has.that srilankan bowling attack was better then this pak attack . plus only dhoni crossed 50. that was completely and utterly one man show.
diga Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 with kohli it was bit expected. still its against pak, and against "supposedly"best bowling lineup in asia cup. but if you leave patriotism aside, dhoni 183 against srilanka came much eariler in his career, ajmal aint no murli, vaas still miles better then anything pak has.that srilankan bowling attack was better then this pak attack . plus only dhoni crossed 50. that was completely and utterly one man show. Achieving things in your 2nd or 3rd year of international cricket is tougher because of Video analysis. MSD was an unknown at that time
mhr123 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Actually u are comparing two totally different inngs...Brute and classy.. MSD's 183* was a Brutal Inngs. against the likes of Murli + Co.... it shocked there bowling lineup.. Virat's 183* a classy inngs.. most of them a delight to the eyes.. even few shorts were so classy that even SRT would have been proud to play those... Therefore difficult to compare both .. but as for entertainment i would vote for MSD... i wish we get back the old MSD..
CoverDrive Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 chasing 330 a much tougher ask and even the context of the game was difficult with india fighting to get into Finals. But Dhoni innings was definitely more entertaining. that was the carefree dhoni of old without the burdens of captaincy. how i wish we get to see that sometime. I think in T20's he should just bat number 3 or something and let loose and go beserk.
Prakat Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I'm just happy that we get to choose between two outstanding performances. :aha:
rkt.india Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Dhoni massacred SL bowling by brute hitting while Kohli had silken touch and placements.
akshayxyz Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I'm just happy that we get to choose between two outstanding performances. :aha: this.
mhr123 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I'm just happy that we get to choose between two outstanding performances. :aha: +1
Vijy Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I'm just happy that we get to choose between two outstanding performances. :aha: +2
jusarrived Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I dont want to chooe between the 2 , though i have picked Virats only cos it was against Pak...Dhoni's was just one man show , brutal innings . still the best ODI innings for me was MSD's .
jusarrived Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I'm just happy that we get to choose between two outstanding performances. :aha: Virats innings against the lankans was better than todays imo . so its actually 3 outstanding performances to choose from.
Sehwag1830 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 people are forgetting Dhoni's 148 against Pakistan in 2005.
Vijy Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Isn't this wandering off topic? Soon, we will be debating all sorts of innings including the twin Sandstorms, etc, etc. Both the 183s were fab knocks but I enjoyed Dhoni's brutality - it was just phenomenal.
bajrang Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 forget dhoni 183, compare saeed anwar's 195 to kohli's 183. kohli made it while chasing, with 1 down for nothing and ran all of his runs. :cantstop:
