fineleg Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 How would you compare on these parameters (for ODIs) Technique Temperament (situation/pressure/chasing etc) Range of Strokeplay Virat Kohli / ABCDeVilliers Since VK is not yet a "Test-class" player in reality, we can keep it to ODIs. Hopefully in future, VK can go on to prove himself at Test-level.
Old guy Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 two of my fav odis players :woot: why do want to compare them :((
Crookbond Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 So we talking about Vinay Kumar here? No, Vikram Kumar. http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/player/16113.html
Number Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Kohli is better in pressure situation and temperament. ABDV can be marginally more damaging.
tatters Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 I don't often post here. And when I have, it is usually to show my support for Kohli. When he was struggling a bit in West Indies and after the first two Tests in Australia, I was still sure that Virat would show his true class. And central to that 'class' is his technique. Virat's techniqiue is flawless. A classy strokemaker who has every shot in the book. On technique and range of strokes, there is no batsman around (apart from SRT) that can compete with him. The only thing seperating him from dominating cricket is his hot-head mentality and inexperience (on the Test scene). We saw in the last two Australia Tests that he can bat under any conditions. If he can control his mentality, there is nothing stopping him from becoming one of the greatest in history. He's that talented.
fineleg Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 Virat's techniqiue is flawless. ......He's that talented. Talented certainly. Flawless technique - I dont think so, he does have weakness when tested in the offside corridor of uncertainty and can be susceptible to well directed short-pitch bowling. But his technique has improved and I hope it continues to improve. ABDV has his own flaws, just that he has been having a great run. Serani  No Trolling.
anotherhawkeye Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 So we talking about Vinay Kumar here? I see what you did there...
rkt.india Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 How would you compare on these parameters (for ODIs) Technique Temperament (situation/pressure/chasing etc) Range of Strokeplay Virat Kohli / ABCDeVilliers Since VK is not yet a "Test-class" player in reality, we can keep it to ODIs. Hopefully in future, VK can go on to prove himself at Test-level. I think he has more than enough shown that he can play test cricket. 70 odd on one of the toughest WACA pitch in recent times is enough evidence though he still has not played many Tests yet and even ABDV is not a great test batsman right now, good but not great.
vvvslaxman Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Kohli's whipped shot through midwicket is increasingly becoming legendary. Also the "flick" shot through cover.
express bowling Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Virat is also VK eh.. So, that's why Vinay keeps getting picked. Dhoni tells selectors, "VK is an obvious choice " . And the selectors think he is referring to Weenie. :haha:
