ShebbySB Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Batsmen:-Rahane(36 & 118),Pujara(70 & 71),Kedar Yadav(114 & 67), Mandeep Singh(53 & 46),Saurabh Tiwary(112*) & couple of guys who are highly talented but didn't perform in this particular tournament are Surya Kumar Yadav(21 years of age & average of 67 in FC) & Robin Bist(highest run scorer in this years Ranji trophy). Bowlers:-Seamers-Shami Ahmed(10-0-62-4),Parvinder Awana (10-1-49-6),Munaf(8-1-34-4 & 7-0-30-0). Spinners-Iqbal Abdulla(7-0-32-6 & 10-0-68-4). Allrounders:-Bipul Sharma(10-0-49-1 & 68,he's a left arm orthodox spinner & handy no.7 0r 8 who can hit the ball big.He should replace Jaddu in the national team.),Jalaj Saxena(20 & 5-0-28-1,32 & 10-1-39-3.He's a opening batsman who bowls offspin & his quota of 10 overs decently.),Bhubaneswar Kumar (9-0-43-3 & didn't bat,10-0-45-2 & 51.He is a seam bowling allrounder who bowls like other Kumars but he has good batting ability & the 51 he has made was while he opened the batting). Keeper/Bat:-Pappu Patel(78 & 69),Dinesh Karthik(52).

Keeper/Bat:-Pappu Patel(78 & 69),Dinesh Karthik(52). Rahane - Better suited for Test cricket Pujara - Ditto Kedar Jadhav - promising, but whose place would he take? As he's an aggressive middle order bat (and doesn't bowl), the only person he could replace is Raina. Mandeep Singh - early days; better FC record Saurabh Tiwary - Got a couple of chances, did OK. His play reminds me more of slogging. Suryakumar Yadav - One good Ranji season. Needs to repeat this the next time. A real prospect though. Robin Bist - I don't think he's suited for ODIs at ALL. And even for Tests, he doesn't seem impressive enough when compared to some of the above names. Parvinder Awana - has been regularly among the wickets in all 3 formats this season. Shami - too expensive. Munnabhai - Get him back asap Iqbal Abdulla - Currently India's best List A spinner. Bipul Sharma - He has a good record and seems to be a better batsman than Jaddu and a better bowler than Yuseless. Jalaj Saxena - Poor record as a batsman. Seems more like a bits and pieces player. B. Kumar - Dude has an excellent record and is quite young. Lack of pace is worrying, although he could be tried in place of our slow-medium trundlers. Keeper - Should be Saha, and Saha ALONE! Pappu and Karthik are No. 3 and 4.
Sooda Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Some of these guys should go to WI with A team first, see how they fare.

Sooda Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I think Pujara can be a good middle overs accumulator. His average in List A is good unlike Rahane. Hopefully they will both go to Wi anyway, Pujara should e captain.
CoverDrive Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 glad to see pujara back in the runs- did not have a good ranji season
Vijy Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 glad to see pujara back in the runs- did not have a good ranji season He was coming off a major injury. Took some time to get into the groove.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 An away A tour would be the perfect opportunity to expose these players to different conditions. IMO likes of Pujara & Rahane should be given a run in the Test team as they may go the Murali Vijay way if they are forced to play the shorter format stuff.

Murali Vijay, Abhinav Mukund, Badrinath... the list goes on of Tamil Nadu players who failed to live up to the expectations.
express bowling Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Are there any batsmen who fit this mould ? A good batsman and not just a slogger + plays well in tough situations and wins matches for his team + High FC average + good backfoot player and potentially good player of pace and bounce + strokemaker

express bowling Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Mandeep Singh Then he should be groomed and picked for our team.
jairamesh Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I would love to see to Surya Yadav make an early Test and ODI debut. Just a hunch selection. But Pujara, Rahane, and Mukund all need get into the Test squad. Abu Neechim needs to get into the ODI squad.
rkt.india Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Then he should be groomed and picked for our team. He should be in our A team along with Suryakuamr Yadav and Mayank Sidhana.
diga Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Then he should be groomed and picked for our team. Cricinfo article already mentions him as one of the contenders for RDs position .. But he is too young(only 20) and lacks overseas experience
