I am not denying him his credit.He bowled adequately well. But our batsmen neither used their feet to him nor tried sweeping him or tried to upset his line and length.They just came forward and tried to smother the spin.No intent at all.In short,they played like the English batsmen. The last time our batsmen struggled this way against a finger spinner was '99 against Saqlain and he was the world's best bowler then with the doosra that nobody had seen before. And he bowled on minefields. Now along comes Monty, a chequered career at best and suddenly he turns into Warne? Kudos to Panesar but our batsmen failed. I can't think of Sidhu or Azhar or even Tendlya of the old allowing a bowler of Monty's caliber to dominate them this way.

I think Monty was a victim of Warnes comments and Fletchers need to have every player add runs and field well. I have been very impressed with the control and variation he has achieved whilst he has been out of the team. Ashwin could learn from him

Did you know that the ECB is paying for tutorage of our young players for month after month in Indian conditions. Graham Thorpe is their coach (Old twinkle toes) and he is moulding our young batsmen. I really appreciate the professional approach from England these days

Sure we lost 3-0 to Pakistan but when you analyse the games we were well ahead in 2 of the tests, so it wasnt quite as bad as the scoreline suggests In the 2nd test we dominated nearly whole match and then stupidly collasped chasing 140 In the 3rd test we bowled them out for 99 in the first innings and again should really have won the game. Im not saying we are superb but there we werent a complete walkover.

I genuinely think the IPL has ruined test cricket for India, they just doesnt seem to be any hunger or fight to win 5 day games. In England they looked like they couldnt be bothered and that poor attitiude has stayed fr this series. They dont even look fit, most of your players chubby.

PRoblem is lack of accountability. BCCI fully is going to back them as they are highly marketable.

Bowling has been consistently bad for years bar occasional good spells from Zak, Kumble and Bhaji which got us wickets, however as mentioned we are not scoring enough runs, to get below 400 at Eden Gardens is a disgrace, to get below 500 at Sydney/Oval is also putting the bowlers under too much pressure and they are not Dale Stynes or Shoaib Akthar that they can make up for it. When you are out of form you will struggle against any bowling spin included, being good players of spin is not constant. Our middle order is non existent with the loss of Ganguly, Dravid and Laxman and openers should have been dropped time ago, when you get to 100-1 on day 1 like we used to it takes a lot of pressure off the middle. Win or lose this match big balls needed to make big changes

The current test situation for India is the batsmens fault. To put pressure on any side you need runs on the board. You won the last two tosses, but your batsmen let the advantage slip. Also your fielding leaks runs (mainly the batsmen) Sharma bowled his heart out today and Khan is doing his best in his twilight years. Your spinners are young with a lot to learn. The fault lies with your batting princes, their poor concentration and techniques imho

Sachin's shot was rubbish? It was a very good delivery. Agreed Kohli's was a stupid shot and so were others but fact remains that what happened before the dismissal would tell you that it was a very good spell. It was not as straight forward as you are making it to sound though.

Yeah, it was rubbish. The density to accept any criticism of Tendulkar is just amazing. Do you think the Tendulkar of '96 at Old Trafford would have touched that delivery? Or the Tendulkar of '10 at Cape Town? As I said, it was a good spell of bowling the likes of which are very common in test match cricket. Top class batsmen don't regularly get dismissed to this standard of bowling.

Cook might have weathered, but again, Zaheer has been a bit up and down this series.

And there is the difference. You have to weather these good spells in tests to be successful because there would be times when the bowler would be in his groove, the ball would be doing a bit, run scoring would dry up. Cook was able to get through such good spells and Tendulkar/Kohli could not. That's a failure of the batting and a pretty big one. And it's not an aberration. For the past one and a half years, Dravid during the England tour, Kohli in Australia, and Pujara here were the only batsman whom I saw capable of getting through spells of good bowling. All Tendulkar bhakts have been literally weeping for more than a year that he "looks good". In tests stroking a few cut shots and drives is not looking good. Looking good is being able to weather through difficult spells of bowling and not only Tendulkar, but the entire line up except Kohli and Pujara in patches have been incapable of doing it.
