India-KXIP fan Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Sehwag and Gambhir have no right to even think about captaincy. They are as responsible for the test team's failure as Dhoni. What have they done to even justify a place in the side' date=' forget captaincy ?[/quote'] Well who then? Sehwag seems to be scoring runs again. Unlucky yesterday, looked like he was gonna score big. Gambhir needs to be dropped, was beaten many times yesterday where English openers look solid. He was lucky to get to 60 and hasn't been good in last 3 years.
India-KXIP fan Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 make zaheer the captain... Fast bowler, 34 already. Likely to get injured and miss games. Maybe until Kohli finally delivers though.
Old guy Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 make him captain for year till south african tour this can work...
BERGKAMP Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 make chand the captain and play the whole u19 side in the next game. they can't do any worse ! :giggle:
bajrang Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 same here bro. hope cook scores triple ton here.
Spiderguy252 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Kohli is the next in line IMO. Will be a Graeme Smith like appointment. Maybe Gambhir can be vice captain. Not Sehwag.
zep1706 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 make chand the captain and play the whole u19 side in the next game. they can't do any worse ! They will show more enthusiasm and energy than these gutless *****.
vijay50 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 The problem is once the star performer crosses beyond a certain age, we are unable to tolerate any loss in form and the replacements are not consistent. Case in point, Anil kumble. He was doing well except at his age of 38 where he had loss of form. Amit Mishra performed excellently in just that one series against aussies and there was so much pressure on Kumble that he retired. 3 years down the lane where is Amit Mishra now?Harbhajan is going through a similar phase now and we have found a quick fix in Ashwin and Ojha like Amit Mishra. Time will tell whether Ashwin and Ojha will survive and whether we will loose Harbhajan forever. Same thing with Laxman. He had a poor series against Aus and England and was forced to retire, the reason being that we are keeping young guns like Kohli out for long. Now Kohli is inconsistent. There are calls now for Tendulkar to retire as he is keeping Rahane out. Only time will tell whether Rahane can survive in international cricket. Already the problem of yuvraj/ Raina destroying indian test cricket is still ongoing. Openers Sehwag and Gambhir are also not serious in what they do after the world cup. My poimt is that we are waiting for opportunity to discard the seniors without their replacements being consistent and then we discard more seniors and make more changes to make matters worse. I thought it would have been better if Laxman retired 2 tests into australia series at home. We should let Tendulkar continue till 2 batters out of pujara, Kohli and Rahane start showing consistency along with one of the openers in next 2 years. Do not bring yuvraj or raina or jadeja back again in test side. They dont deserve India cap. Regarding spinners Keep Harbhajan and Let Ojha/ Harmeet /Ashwin establish themselves in next 2 years. But they have to earn the India cap. If Harbhajan is going through prolonged loss of form, keep him out for 2 years , but do not discard him. If Harbhajan's replacement are as poor as him we might as well get Harbhajan back after 2 years. I think India will loose a lot of series over next 2 years, but if changes are made gradually we might see some improvement rather than discarding all old guys enmasse.
Crookbond Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Welcome to the club DM. Better late than never. :) That said, I would want other things to be changed as well. I don't necessarily think Dhoni is the single point of failure. I am now convinced that he is past his sell-by-date.
NareshK Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Many members of this team look too relaxed to perform at the test level. There is no passion or fire to win. They seem to have taken it easy after the World Cup win.
Tridibans_16 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Even after the last test, I was actually hoping we bounce back. But the way our natsmen played on this patta, I really wish we lose this series. Lets see how Dhoni sill retains his captaincy in the side. Personally, I don't even think he deserves a place in the test side. Same with Yuvraj. I have said it time and again Yuvi is just not a test material. Last but not the least, Zaheer is no more an international level bowler. Even Anderson was getting swing here.

Lord Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 If a loss means kicking dhobi out as a kaptaan' date=' I will take it.[/quote'] that wont happen:csk:
Chalks Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Now that Ponting is retired, I might start supporting Australia again...
asterix Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Feel like snatching the bat off his hand and :whack: him at his smart rear..
