1983-2011 Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the Indian capital, Delhi, on 8 April, his office has announced. Mr Zardari will visit, in a private capacity, the shrine of a famous Sufi Muslim saint, in north-west Rajasthan state, his spokesman said. He will meet Mr Singh for lunch before visiting the shrine in Ajmer city. This will be the first visit to India by a Pakistani head of state for seven years. The visit comes as tensions ease between the nuclear-armed neighbours amid efforts to improve mutual trade over the last few months, correspondents say. Late on Sunday night, Pakistani presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar said Mr Zardari had accepted Mr Singh's invitation for lunch and would stop by in Delhi on way to Ajmer, the Times of India reports. Reports from Ajmer said the administration was preparing for Mr Zardari's visit and that the entire shrine area was expected to be closed to other devotees during the Pakistani president's visit. Earlier on Sunday, the presidential office said that an India visit was on the cards and the date and details of the trip were being worked out. This would be Mr Zardari's first visit to India since he took over as president in 2008. The last Pakistani president to visit India was Gen Pervez Musharraf, who came on an official visit in 2005. I'd been there a few days before my engagement, because my mother insisted I pray there. The 'pirs', without any inkling of shame keep asking you money invoking religious causes/education for underprivileged children/ upkeep of the dargah etc. Never open your purse in front of them. Then they'll gherao you and keep pestering you for money. People from a generation ago used to talk of the 'sukoon' and 'neki' that they experienced visiting Hazrat Chishti's dargah. Its lost all that sanctity now. Its so commercialized. :(( Wish Zardari is also forced to part with some of his not so hard earned cash.

Sarkar Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 From mouth-watering kebabs to delicious biryani, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari will get a taste of India's diverse cuisine as he settles down for lunch with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday. On the menu would be food from virtually all regions of the country -- masala dosa from the South, sandesh from the East and kebabs popular in the North. The lunch will begin with cold melon and mint soup followed by sarson ke phool, subz shammi kebab and mini masala dosa as starters for vegetarian. The non-vegetarian menu has Jaithooni murg seekh and gosht barra kebab for starters. The dignitaries would then be served Kareli Dal Gosht (mutton), murg kofta makhni (chicken), sikandari khusk raan (lamb) with assorted rotis. They can also have their pick from a south Indian delicacy avial, moong dal tadka and kacchi ghost biryani (a variety of mutton biryani). The vegetarians at the lunch table can choose from Tori Bhujia, paneer jhalfrezi and makai palak with assorted rotis. This will be followed by avial, moong dal tadka and subz biryani. Earlier, Kashmiri delicacy Goshtaba and a prawn dish were also considered for the menu but later dropped. For dessert, the dignitaries can opt for blueberry mousse, gur ka sandesh, phirni and fresh fruits. The dignitaries can wind off the lunch with tea or coffee
