Rahul Shukla is a genuine quick who can bowl high 140s.He is as fast or faster than Aaron.Abu Nechim is also very sharp when he's in full throttle & can bowl 145+.......So that makes it six:-Umesh,Ishant,Aaron,Shami,Rahul Shukla,Nechim. Plus don't forget about Pawan Suyal,Sudeep Tyagi,Ashok Dinda,Manpreet Gony, Parvinder Awana,Anwar Ahmed,VRV Singh,Pritam Das who all can clock over 140 & are in Fast-medium category. It's actually a good thing for these bowlers that they are not getting games in the IPL.If IPL does anything that it destroys bowlers confidence & the fixtures are so close that u bound to get injuries. We've decent amount of fast bowling talent in our country but the thing is there is not right people in the right place with good vision. That's why we see trundlers like PK,VK to play for the national team.
There's a difference between CAN and WILL. Just because a bowler somehow managed to bowl a 140 kph delivery once in a domestic game doesn't mean much. We saw Munaf touted as a fast bowler and that lasted a few months. We had VRV Singh as a demon fast bowler and he hardly touched 130s. Unadkat was hovering in 120s when he made his debut in SA and was an embarrassment to say the least. Last I saw Aaron against WI in Tests he was barely touching 137 kph and no way did he look like a genuine quick. All these names sound good and they MAY bowl fast but the truth is at the moment we only have 2 tried and tested quicks - Ishant & Umesh. Guys like Shami, Nechim etc. haven't done anything and if they had been anything close to what people make them out to be on ICF they would have been getting games in IPL. Let's not biggy up pacers just like padosis and wait before they do something of note before hyping them.

Impressed with Pankaj as above. Refreshing to see him bowling just a touch back of a length and moving the ball away. Was like test cricket. If they went after him though and succeeded, wonder if he had variations that you need for T20. But definitely bowling well for tests and possibly ODI. Accuracy, seaming away, he kept repeating this.

Our bowling will continue to be average.. I am not impressed by any bowler. Nobody looks like having a long career with 300 wickets in their career. Lot of Aussies effortlessly bowl over 145ks. For christsake Samuels bowls at 125 k from two steps. Our bowlers can't sustain their pace over a spell let alone bowl with variations.

That's why I said other than Umesh & Ishant there's hardly any decent talent and even these two have lots to learn in terms of consistency in line & length and keeping the pressure on batsmen.

Especially Ishant Sharma, his career has been deceptively poor to date. People shouldn't read much into Samuels being able to bowl 125kph off two steps. He clearly throws his quicker ball. This is not one up for debate like Akhtar or Tait, he just walks in and throws it to the batsman.

Let's see him bowl well for the rest of the IPL. If he does, selectors may take his fine performances in all forms of the domestic game seriously and he may find himself called up.

Pankaj Singh, last time we saw him he was far worse than Vinay in terms of pace. There is a SA coach at Rajasthan Ranji , he puts importance on bowling with good pace, that may be the reason.
Possibly was just in good rhythm today. Majority of fast medium bowlers can near 140kph on their day despite mainly bowling around 130kph.

Agree. He will get some games for sure. Lets see how he performs further. Though he bowled with good pace in Ranji finals too from what I saw.

Pankaj had a few things going for him as he is tall, and extracts bounce, has stamina and a trier, his normal pace is 127 to 133 k, he needed to bowl 5 k's faster on average also he had some issues with his action and had a knee problem last season. He has been the best and highest wicket taker last 3 to 4 years in domestic,Meryck Pringle worked with him this year as he was the bowling coach for Rajasthan and we se a bit of improvement, he has to bowl a bit faster on average and extract pace and swing to be international class, hopefully he makes the jump.
