NareshK Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Here is another reason and I know I attribute a lot of failures to Dhoni's captaincy but what's seriously up with the pathetic team selection....and people talking about Tiwary here...here is the deal,He may or may not have outperformed Rohit but the fact is Gambhir, kohli,Dhoni,Rohit,Tiwary,Rahane are all the same kind of players-Our squad looks very 1 dimensional and some one like Y.Pathan should have been picked. People here talk about Pollard all the time but he has been a failure too so far but there is always an xfactor they bring in to this format Gambhir, Kohli, Dhoni, Rohit couldnt be more different from each other. What are you on about ? Also Y. Pathan struggles when there is slight amount of turn or swing. He is a flat track bully if ever there was one.
Number Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 But if you look at it from Balaji's POV, he has a right to be excited. He is making a comeback after years, has been given the ball to defend 14 (even if India are out of the cup, the match was still to be won), has got smashed for a SIX, got a wicket in the next ball, again been smashed for a SIX by a No.11 batsman and has managed to slip in a yorker in the penultimate ball of the match to get the wicket. Natural reaction for any sportsman! Agree. May or may not deserve to be in the team, but nothing wrong with the reactions.
Lord Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Raina was pathetically used in the T20.hes our best T20 batsmen.even today he batted at 5
Ultimate_Game Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 how is 8 ball 10 better 30 ball 30?Afridi mode? Coz most of those 30 balls were wasted in the power-play overs. With Sehwag in the team Pathan would have batted at 8 and he wouldn't have crawled to a 30 ball 30 at the death. Case in point today's match against Saffers. We still ended up at 152 - 12 runs more than what we managed against Aus which could have proven the difference in getting through to the semis.

Pathan was at 8 today.Sehwag made a magnificent n brutal 17 off 14.other day wen we were chasing 128 with Pathan at 8,he again made a brutal 29 off 24.surely it helped having 7 bats
maniac Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Gambhir' date= Kohli, Dhoni, Rohit couldnt be more different from each other. What are you on about ? Also Y. Pathan struggles when there is slight amount of turn or swing. He is a flat track bully if ever there was one. None of the 4 are power hitters, they are all maybe with the exception of Dhoni, proper batsman who are comfortable playing in the more accumulator role...by nature, they are all attacking batsman who like to accelerate after settling in but would you call them power-hitters? Don't think spin is an issue for Yusuf but that's a debate for another day...I was talking about a similar kind of player and that's why I mentioned Pollard who may fail 8/10 but can change the game on it's head...Few years back would have said Afridi too but looks like he has lost his touch with the bat
Trundler27 Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 In hindsight the reason for our inability to make it to the semis ........is our lack of ability Our bowling lineup is worst off than afghanistan, our fielding is ridiculously pathetic and so is our running between the wickets (sehwag, yuvi, etc).... anyone expected this team to win a WC??? Our batting lineup is full of batters well past their prime (barring 1-2 players) and our captain made poor decisions one after another.... Sorry but there is no 'biggest' reason coz there are many many reasons and you just don't plan for a global event in this manner and expect to win it all.
Ranvir Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I think astute opposition batsmen were aware of the ball going to Balaji, Zaheer, and Ashwin. It was amazing how the Saffers kept on finding Balaji today, and turning singles into comfortable twos. Yes Balaji in particular was woeful in the field.
Crookbond Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 When we talk about Power hitters every team which has progressed to the semi-finals has one. In India's case there is none apart from Yuvraj, who was not quite in touch this tournament.
jairamesh Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 If only we grabbed the opportunities, especially crushing Pakistan when the opportunity presented itself instead of just trundling along to victory. Should have wrapped that game up in 14-15 over. Again India cricket team and management failing at these small things.
Crookbond Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Bad genetics India-KXPXI hacked Serani's account :omg:
CoverDrive Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 it has to be ABDVs pathetic captaincy ;) He let pak off the hook
jairamesh Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Yes Balaji in particular was woeful in the field. Woeful!!, It was embarrassing, cringe-worthy, lack of urgency, During today's SA again, I was pissed at the way he took three to four steps before causually throwing the ball into Dhoni. :headshake: And then the expression on his face having just run 100m under 10 secs. Jeez how unfit are these guys!!!
saket123 Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 The biggest reason was the trashing we received from Australia.

Crookbond Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 In fact, I would argue at the international level these little things make a huge difference. I am not sure though if India did not know it or did not try - of course in hindsight does not make any difference this.
Crookbond Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Raina is but was used pathetically in always consolidate situations I disagree - Raina's current form makes him only good for the innings which we saw today not the usual hitting we are used to from him.
jairamesh Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 it has to be ABDVs pathetic captaincy ;) He let pak off the hook fecking Morkel, what a feck, from all the players Umar noodle legs Gul. :hysterical: then today he had the gall of trying to smack sixes today :hysterical:
