England vs South Africa 2012

I wonder why such dry pitches were not prepared when India went there.....oh yeah...understand...SA have much better quicks then Eng...so need dry pitches to negate that threat. Then the whole world cries when India prepare tracks to suit their needs....Such hypocrites.
India got best batting track at Oval last time. But our batsmen were in such bad form that they succumbed to spin of Swann. :giggle: When Pakistan toured England, iirc they won a match at Oval with the help of Ajmal's 5 wickets in second inning. We scored around 600 runs in our earlier tour there. Oval has generally been spinner friendly pitch. Warne destroyed England there. How many times we see fast pitches in India?

And we see those, how many times Indian captains decide to sit out of the match due to "injury"? :winky:

Some weird expectations people have these days .. draws and batting wickets appear all the time in test cricket and i wouldn't jump on that verdict after 2 sessions of the first test. At least watch the opposition bowl before crying fowl about the nature of the game.

Nobody in the world has the patience to watch only 2 wickets fall in 90 overs.

Let's be brutally honest, bowling these days lack the fire power of 1990's.... I remember those times, when Ambrose and Walsh humiliated a good English line up (Atherton, Stewart, Gooch and etc.) on any pitch, be it green or placid. That was entertainment, that was high quality Test Cricket.

what a horrible horrible track!! obviously strauss knows his pace attack stands no chance against saffer. styen is twice the bowler anderson is, by preparing such wicket struss is taking advantage of his long batting line up, mini collapse in england batting line wont hurt them but will expose saffer's long tail sooner if they happend. struss is hoping for those collapse yet playing it safe.

The beauty of test cricket is you can have sessions dominated by opposite teams and hard fought ones all in the same game. The pendulum can swing either way for four and a half days and you could have either side win or for that matter no result in the end. If you cannot tolerate 2-3 sessions dominated by one side, test cricket isn't for you.

Like they did in these matches at the Oval where the current test is being played? http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63561.html http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63689.html

+1 An Adage - One session can change a Test match. Wait for SA to bat. They aren't where they are for nuts.

The word you are looking for is "clinical". The objective is to win and not to entertain. I am sure WI team provides better entertainment but would you consider them a good side? Maybe ICC should consider having "Entertainment Ranking" as well :dontknow:

That will go to Pakistan or Sri Lanka. Bangladesh will also give a good run for their money.
