goose Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 someone describe what it feels like to be on weed. what are the short term and long term side effects? i've never done it.
Nova Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 There are three stages one goes through depending on the level of hits- 1. Buzz: The first 15 minutes or so, it is like a giddy feeling... newbies may experience headaches. 2. High: It feels like one is floating like a butterfly. Thoughts wander, senses begin to get enhanced. Little things are funny, sometimes uncontrollable laughter. The level of introspection increases and you want to experience the other side of you. Appreciation of the things you like is increased like listening to music, especially psychedelic music. (Refer to my music mix here). 3. Stoned: Having already floated, it's time for deeper slumber with an altered state of consciousness. If you are new to this stage, it is possible to hallucinate on a powerful strain and make up imaginary things, although this is rare. Sex and masturbation is more pleasurable which I like. In short it amplifies everything, makes you more relaxed and just chilled out. Sense of time is often lost. Long term effect is that you could lose a few brain cells if you get addicted. :phehehe:
flamy Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 someone describe what it feels like to be on weed. what are the short term and long term side effects? i've never done it. total opposite to alcohol. alcohol numbs u down, weed wakes you up. technically, you get into a sustained (minimum 4 hrs) state of Alpha brainwaves, which leads to introspection and an enhancement of all your senses (including the sixth :winky:) And, your trip is totally under your control. You can make it fun or go paranoid. You can take it deep or you can keep it light. You have total control, even if others around you think you don't :D As all your senses are on overdrive, you get to feel the subtle things that usually get filtered out. Like the final crunch of the tiny nacho morsel, the trickling down of water as it reaches your stomach, heartbeat on overdrive (cud get scary if u let it), the insane buzz of orgasm (i now regularly have whole body orgasms :D). And music. Wow. You can see the notes seperating and mingling and dancing. Synesthesia is not unusual. Closed-eye visions are very normal. Laughter is expected everytime, especially when in groups and you talk gibberish with each other. Like I said, up to you how you steer it. You can get silly or deeply philosophical. For me, I usually spend the first 30 mins with friends, and then I go deep and have a private spiritual experience. For more, read my blog :P
goose Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 thanks for that guys. you paint a wonderfully enticing picture. why would anyone risk the harmful effects of harder drugs like ecstacy and cocaine given everything you've said? do you crash the next morning / day? also, i assume it's consumed much like a cigarette. does it irritate the lungs (i mean medically, in the way nicotine does)?
Nova Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 thanks for that guys. you paint a wonderfully enticing picture. why would anyone risk the harmful effects of harder drugs like ecstacy and cocaine given everything you've said? do you crash the next morning / day? also, i assume it's consumed much like a cigarette. does it irritate the lungs (i mean medically, in the way nicotine does)? It's all wonderful. :--D Now to the hard part. :(( Yes, weed can irritate the lungs. In fact the level of carbon monoxide can be upto 5 times more than a normal cigarette and lung/throat irritation is a long term side effect. But are you going to smoke 10 weed cig a day 365 days a year? Are you going to be addicted like that? NO! If yes then don't touch this sh!t. Ecstacy, Cocaine, Heroin, LSD takes you on a wilder and harder trip.. that's why people do it. Have you had an orgasm? Of course yes..how does that feel for 7-10 seconds. Nice right? Now multiply that feeling and rush - it lasts much longer when you are doing hard drugs. Ohhh la la...how would that feel? Seventh heaven and beyond that!!! It's all due to the pleasure chemical called dopamine. The harder the drug - the more dopamine - more pleasure - more addiction! I will never touch a hard drug. Too scared! edit: I painted only one facet of the effect of drugs, but there is more such as hallucinations, altered consciousness, etc. Flamy would know more on this. He reads books on such things. :P
Nova Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 why would anyone risk the harmful effects of harder drugs like ecstacy and cocaine given everything you've said? To expand a little further on what I said earlier about Dopamine being the pleasure chemical. This video basically answers it --> Ql_wAovRKO8 See all things that give us pleasure release dopamine in the brain. Naturally occurring stimulants are food, sex (as in procreation), etc which is essential for survival. Drugs artificially induce the release of dopamine. As long as dopamine gets released, the brain gets addicted to the stimulant and this leads to addiction. A point comes where too much dopamine gets released with respect to a particular drug and the release centers shut themselves as a control mechanism to protect damage. This is what we call as becoming tolerant to a certain dose level. Now the body seeks a higher dosage of drug to re-start the release of dopamine. A point comes where the the brain shuts itself and the user does not get any pleasure even after higher dose levels..and at this point one is fully addicted. To make it short, blame it on the chemical dopamine. That means even if one knows that what is being consumed is harmful - it's hard to stop because of the addiction and craving. And that is why people seek what they seek. To understand the effect of how powerful dopamine is - you can experience it's effect when having an orgasm. Orgasm is so pleasurable because dopamine levels are highest in the brain at this time and the levels immediately crash after ejaculation. After this point you don't want to do anything related to sex and your attention is towards something else like just sleeping or eating food. Something similar happens when you take drugs - the only thing is that dopamine is released on a sustained level like an extended release capsule. SO the effects last longer but the crash is even harder.

You could use a vaporizer to negate most of the harmful smoke that you inhale if it was a regular bud. I don't crash or have any hangovers with weed. I feel very mellow. Plus weed is not addictive. All in all, I have done weed like ~15 times in my life, I think. But, I take each trip very deep. Most people use weed to just chill, like a 6-pack of beer. Weed is fantastic like that, you can just take a small toke and be buzzed for 3 hours carrying on your own work. As for E and Cocaine, I dunno what they do, or what kind of high they give. Not really interested in those. Although, I am interested in LSD because Ayahuasca facilitates OOBEs and inter-dimensional experiences. But, I don't plan to do Ayahuasca alone. I need a Shaman for that. This is not a recreational thing for me. I have also done Salvia and that is intense but very short - like 20 mins. Laced with Mary, it can get quite trippy tho :woot: If you want more info, you'd be better off going to my home page ---> http://www.erowid.org

Mamu Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 i know its illegal in America. but you know people do it. Even in Europe its legal and in Canada WTF -- How do you even know what strain is the weed, you are smoking? Do we even care? And if the peddler said to you, oh this is from Central Colombia, or Mexico or whatever -- do you even believe him? He is a bloody peddler for feck's sake who is making money illegally.
The Outsider Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 WTF -- How do you even know what strain is the weed, you are smoking? Do we even care? And if the peddler said to you, oh this is from Central Colombia, or Mexico or whatever -- do you even believe him? He is a bloody peddler for feck's sake who is making money illegally. You, obviously, know little about smoking. Even semi experienced smokers can start to tell the difference between one strain and the other, just like someone would be able to tell the difference between a whiskey or vodka. Also : 1. In states where medical marijuana is legal, it is common to buy through someone who has a license, so that ways you are assured of the strain you are buying. 2. A significant number of dealers are in it for the long run. Just like any other business they have nothing to gain and plenty to lose by cheating the customer.
Ram Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 This new year's eve, i will officially join the club of the converted. :winky:
Nova Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 This new year's eve' date=' i will officially join the club of the converted. :winky:[/quote'] What's making you do it and why new year's eve? Milestone indeed .:D
Ram Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 What's making you do it and why new year's eve? Milestone indeed .:D No specific reason as such. Whats life without experimenting a bit? :D Reg. the date, once again, no specific reason. I am too lazy go actively seek weed, but I’m having a small re-union of sorts with my ex-roomies for the new year’s eve weekend. One of them tried it earlier this year and gave raving reviews. :D. Besides, those bastards were the one who got me started on most of my ‘sins’ anyway, so I figured it is only appropriate that they do the honors this time as well.
Nova Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 ^ Fantastic. I hope there is some sort of initiation ceremony.. I guess new year's eve is appropriate. Enjoy man..you are right about experimenting a bit in life. It keeps things interesting. :)
flamy Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 is that it! ok i'm sold. who's going to msg me yea, it is fun because one trip lasts like 4 hrs so you don't really need to be "amping up" over and over. if ur in cali, it is easy peasy man.
Holysmoke Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I've smoked up a few times... the first time.. nothing happenned. the other times.. I felt i was on a rollercoaster.. very very very lightheaded.. I felt the world was moving around me.. and when I closed my eyes it kinda felt like I was falling in a vacuum... Kinda like the nicotine buzz you get when smoking a cigarette after a long time.. multiplied by 10 billion. Not a particularly good feeling.. hence I dont smoke up.
