BCCI urged to host Pak 'home' series

According to well-informed sources, the PCB chairman, Zaka Ashraf, made the offer to his Indian counterpart, N Srinivasan, on the sidelines of the ICC meeting in Dubai last weekend. "Ashraf told Srinivasan that Pakistan would be willing to play their future home series on Indian soil if the Indian board was ready to play host," a source said. "Ashraf also told the Indian board president and ICC president, Sharad Pawar, that if India agreed to host Pakistan's 'home' matches, the PCB would pay for all the expenses involved in the venture. Clearly, Ashraf wants resumption of bilateral cricket with India, and believes if India agrees to play host to Pakistan's home matches, the ice will break between the two boards." Pakistan have been forced to play all their 'home' series at neutral venues since 2009 as foreign teams have refused to tour the country because of security concerns. Pakistan have played their home matches mostly in the UAE and even in England and New Zealand, in a bid to ensure that the team is not deprived of international cricket. In August, Pakistan will be playing a 'home' one-day international series against Australia in Sri Lanka after the Aussies refused to tour the country. The Indian board has avoided any bilateral cricket relations with Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. "Ashraf has the backing of the Pakistan government in his endeavours and he apparently had a pleasant discussion with the Indians in Dubai," the source said. Recently, Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq also called for the resumption of regular bilateral cricket ties with India, insisting this would prove beneficial not only to both the countries, but also to the world of cricket.

Its high time though that India Pak played a series, it will be very exciting and for BCCI a big money spinner, not sure whats stopping them. While all other activities are a go between 2 countries, why only stop cricket? Doesn't make sense.

These guys misused all our trust. A mutual trust that we have along the borders. These guys crossed over the country and attacked innocent people. sorry, no cricket with you guys. Having said that I have full sympathy with Paki fans. I feel for you guys. But this is much beyond all of us. Pak is better off in Dubai for few more years. I dont think this can improve anytime soon.

Cricket tour should be out of the question. You cant have cricket tours and bus tours while terrorists from Pakistan keep attacking India and killing people here while their establishment acts oblivious and does nothing to stop them. Nothing has convinced me Pakistan has been serious about countering terrorism in their country which is directed towards India. Their strategy has been to pretend to promote friendship and ties and yet allow these terror groups to back stab India to weaken us. India has been gullible enough to keep falling into this trap. Enough is enough.

One question arises.. Why allow all other sports series while disallow the Cricket related series or IPL? I think there are multiple reasons: 1. Cricket being high profile sports in the region, might create more controversies. In other sports, majority of people don't even know if it's going on or not or can't be bothered. 2. The revenue generated by Cricket is more and there could be a school of thought that , "why give our own money to these cricketers, some part of which might end up in the Jamat Ud Dawa donation boxes?"... 3. Once Cricket series is allowed, there's no way you can 'punish' the Pakistanis..They won't mind ban on any other sports relations. Banning cricket ties actually hurts the Pakistanis.. Since they can't be bothered to do anything on Mumbai massacre investigation and would rather sit on it, the Indian govt./BCCI too are sitting on the issue or resuming the cricketing ties.. However, we might see the resumption of cricketing ties as the time for MMS govt. to garner any sort glory is running out short..
