He did impress, its kind of ironic that PK is about to loose his place in national side and Awana form the same team steps up big in his first game.... it would be funny if next IPL P Awana would be a capped player and PK not having a international in 1 year

Awana has the attitude of a fast bowler, he mixes his length well, can bowl to a plan, reminds me of Dammika Prasad in terms of physical resemblance and a bit of action, although he needs to bowl faster to be considered as a genuine option in ODI'S AND TEST,since he is on the shorter side he needs pace and swing or seam to get wickets, and once he starts to bowl about 5 k's faster he can be a option, right now he hovers around 138-139 to 142 on effort ball.

He does not need to be 5kph faster to be an option. 130-140kph is the standard speed for an international bowler.
Agree. If he can maintain consistency and use his skills well, he is good enough even with this speed to be good enough for international skills.

At international level to be able to buy wickets in test's unless u r a McGrath or a left handed swing bowler, u need pace around 140 to 145 k's at least, especially if u r on a shorter side,in t20 u can get wickets a bit easily as batters wanna score aggressively,in ODI'S and more so in test a strike bowler needs to have pace, 135 to 140 is not fast enough for a batter to force a mistake,a bowler bowling 140 to 146 k's, having control and if he can swing or seam he can make batters commit mistake. Although Awana and Veer Singh are promising as they have a good runup and action , seem to bowl the heavy ball, it is time to look out side VK'S AND PK'S as Awana , P Singh , Dinda have been impressive and should be looked at as ODI prospects especially the seniors who have the experience and domestic performances to back them.

Harris, Steyn, Anderson bowl at similar pace in tests most of the time and are not tall. In tests, it is more about consistency rather than express pace because surviving in tests bowling express pace is hard and no once can sustain that for long periods. Pace is important, but if someone has decent pace around 137-140k then it is good if the bowler has consistency and can move the ball.

He is taller than Praveen, around 6. Steyn and Harris both are similar height.

That is the only way we can select bowlers. by comparing one trundler of ours with other. Don't expect miracles . They are all average.
agree... but not every tundler is of similar level some have lil bit potential to be atleast decent like this guy atleast bowled to some plan even when gayle was going after him the guys like pk , vk go for 40-50 runs at end and rarely they get wicket in first 7-8 overs after that they are useless i will select some one ike dinda over these guys anyday in odis

We can only select what we have. Important is to identify best of what we have.
