The bigger they are the harder they fall! IPL's popularity is not purely for cricketing reasons - it is more like a porn movie when compared to test cricket which is like a high quality film. IPL needs cricket to survive. Cricket is much bigger than IPL. International cricket can survive without IPL as it has done so for 100+ years, while IPL would be finished without the top crickters who have played quality international cricket.

T20 itself is a glorified net practice against international bowlers. IPL is glorified net practice against Indian hacks. It helps players making money, board making money, commies making money, umpires making money without a sweat, bringing out total hacks to limelight with few fluke performances and in the process ends up giving fans false hope, attracting female crowd towards cricket more importantly helping Indians forget the prison pounding they got in Test series abroad. What else? Helps fans having orgasm over their franchise players and franchise wins. If you are from a city which has a team you are lucky. What if you are from cochi. You always have RR to follow as Kerala's greatest son is playing for the team and helping their cause tremendously by sitting out. Not the least.. it gives opportunities to lot of no name Australian noobs thanks to so many OZ coaches. It helps Sangakkara to have a paid vacation alongwith Steyn. It helps all the teams to get familiar with Indian conditions and Indian players. See there are lot of "positives" due to IPL.

No doubt international cricket is bigger, but the fact is our population is 50 times bigger than Australia's and with growing working class in cities ,people need 3-4 hour entertaining sport which they can watch live in stadium.Can international cricket provide entertainment to millions of people in cities ,if they want to watch it live.the answer is no

Well, you mentioned certain tournaments and blamed their failure entirely to IPL. Using your approach, I will give entire success to IPL for making us the world champions and as well made us a No.1 test team. You do realize, that those players have also played for India or even other domestic competitions with injuries. Now if they do the same thing with IPL, suddenly this becomes an issue? Injuries happened in the past as well. Players got injured in domestic competitions, playing some real useless Ranji trophy matches. No one ever asked a question about those matches. And just being injured due to IPL vs being injured due to poor fitness has clear differences. Clearly, this time it is latter, after all IPL has provided the game the need to be fitter and stonger, clearly some indians are not up to the task and their bodies suffer as they are used to it as they have only played "slow" motion cricket. Clearly, not unfair to blame IPL for that. Rest should never be an issue and excuse. We have over 1000s of cricketers and clearly if we use that correctly, we should have a good bench strength and have optimal teams for different levels of games. And also, many players have gotten rest in recent years as they were rotated. Money-minded once again, is a poor reason to hate IPL or for that matter BCCI. First of all, the only reason why every youngster want to come to play cricket is for money. After all, cricket has the highest amount of money in sports, or else they would have tried other sports. Shall you call every youngster money minded now? Also being money- minded is not a bad thing, as long as you use the money in correct ways. Clearly, BCCI is trying to used the money in a lot of positive areas such as better infrastructure.

Well, most folks outside India aren't exactly happy with India's clout in the world of cricket, IPL or not. You are hardly going to get any unbiased opinions from there. Look at the number of guys who were biatching when we reached #1 in tests.

They may not like but very few are as bold as Mr.Kirti. So they will hop on the bandwagon. If IPL is without issues why do paid "employees" of BCCI constantly need to defend IPL on cricinfo and elsewhere? Manjrekar let the cat out of the bag in one of the articles - by saying that though he is associated with BCCI his views expressed in that article are his own independent views and not due to BCCI influence. Shastri and Gavaskar were similarly "caught" not long ago. All these spoke persons of the BCCI are just following orders and none of their views are reliable. Money talks big time.
