The defendant, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, subjected the 22-year-old to ÃÓepeated and sustained sexual abuse, scratching her arm with a screwdriver and burning her with an iron to reinforce his authority over her, the court heard. Prosecutor Richard Clews said he told her not to wear underwear to make the abuse easier. He molested her when his wife was out, after locking the house doors. The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his victim, made his victim do the housework, care for his grandchildren and bring him breakfast in bed. Mr Clews said the bride spoke no English when she came to the UK in 2008, aged 18, following an arranged marriage. Her husband stayed out late and then stopped coming back to his parents home at all, leaving his bride under the power and control of her father-in-law. Jailing him for seven years, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC told the man: ôhe was your prisoner and slave in your home.ü/B] He added: õhe slavery turned into repeated, sustained sexual abuse and degradation. "We believe that in this case the government itself is sanctioning the use of term Asian as a way of clouding responsibility," the groups say. Stifled debate The groups say sex gangs have targeted Hindu and Sikh girls but the cases are rarely reported as they seldom reach the courts. The statement says: "We believe that political correctness stifles debate and will not facilitate a frank and mature discussion or solutions to get to the root of why the above pattern is emerging in these crimes and how to help find a solution to the problem. "We will not be able to do that if we mask the identity of those involved based on misguided views of 'protecting a vulnerable community' of the perpetrators and not looking at the vulnerable community of victims." Last Week Mohammed Shafiq, chief executive of The Ramadhan Foundation, said: "There is an over-representation [of Asian men] amongst recent convictions in the crime of on-street grooming [and] there should be no silence in addressing the issue of race as this is central to the actions of these criminals," he said. He said community elders were "burying their heads" over the issue and police and local councils should not "be frightened" to address the problem, as there was "a strong lesson that you cannot ignore race or be over-sensitive". On Monday, the chair of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission, Trevor Phillips, said the race of the men involved could not be ignored and it was "fatuous" to deny racial and cultural factors. But assistant chief constable Steve Heywood, of Greater Manchester Police, said the case was not about race, but about "adults preying on vulnerable young children". Aparently local residents were fumed at Asian Community A takeaway boss has been jailed for 15 years after paying under-age girls for sex and inciting others to become child prostitutes. Azad Miah, 44, targeted his victims in what the prosecution at Carlisle Crown Court described as a "cold, clinical exploitation of the desperate and vulnerable". The married father-of-four paid for the sexual services of two teenagers who were both introduced to him by the same woman. One of those girls was encouraged to have sex with him out of desperation for cash when she was 15, while he had a sexual relationship with the other, a heroin addict, when she was aged between 15 and 17. A jury also found the Bangladeshi national guilty yesterday of inciting three other girls, one as young as 12, into prostitution, while running a brothel above his former Spice of India shop in Carlisle city centre. The court heard the 12-year-old complained to police on three occasions about him persistently harassing her in 2008, three years before his eventual arrest. She was bombarded with up to 50 texts a day from Miah, who demanded sex. He told her that "in his country it didn't matter about age". Many of the girls in the case were addicted to drugs or came from troubled backgrounds. Some were known to local care authorities. Prostitutes at Miah's brothel were also asked to find young girls, who he described as "fresh meat".
