Nohit and allhype Sharma... What's this indicator of talent? "Looking poised and elegant" while playing a cover drive on a flat wicket on a long hop? BS Virat has proven his mettle already in ODIs and also has done not too badly in the whites either. Not using talent is what one use to describe a person like Yuvraj Singh - he has proven in ODIS that he has got the shots, the grit and determination - but somehow did not display the same in tests. For Nohit, the chap's still to show that in ODIs, his hype stemming from a few performances in the IPL. And don't give me his FC averages. There are a dozen youngsters out there averaging more than 50 in FC cricket.
Also .. i don't understand how they decide Kohli is less talented.. He absolutely toyed with Malinga and later with Saeed Ajmal . Also Virat has much wider range of shots.. Back cuts, late cuts, cover drive , stright drive, On drive, flick off the pads, Pulling the ball while keeping it down, Leg glance.. The thing is he executes them very well .

Samples that Rohit got is very very few.. you could literally count. He has produced equally mediocre innings like he was struggling in England in world T20 agianst England on Lords slope before getting cleaned up by Sidebottom. He has lot of issues outside the off stump much like Mahela. It is not just because of temperament he fails. he also has technical issues. I have seen him play down the wrong line very often. Also he doesn't keep the ball down as well as either yuvraj or kohli. He is airy fairy.
Yuvraj has even more issues than him then. Yuvraj's overseas record is as poor.

Kohli waits and chooses the balls to hit while if Rohit bats he can make any ball hittable very much like Sehwag and Yuvraj. Look at yesterday's innings that wasnt a pancake pitch, but he started hitting and timing the ball straightaway that is what differentiates him from Kohli in terms of talent. Though I think Kohli will prove to be a better batsman and better stats than Rohit after their career ends, especially in tests and ODIs. Kohli is already miles ahead Rohit in ODIs and Rohit has not even made a test debut and I think he should have played test against WI last year.

On his day, even Ajit Agarkar scored a 100 at Lords. Please don't get me wrong, but seems like you've not followed any of Kohli's exlpoits over the last 2 years in International cricket. One just needs to see his last 2-3 100s - 183*(148) vs Pakistan in a do or die, which enabled India to chase down 330 in 48 overs. Or the surreal chase of 321 in 37 overs vs SL down under - again in a crunch match out of which he blasted 133 off 86 and took out Malinga as if he were a street cricketer bowling tennis balls.

I am talking about T20s here, not ODIs. ODI is a different ball game altogether where one can take his time to settle first and Kohli has mastered that art.

He might be a dick but fact is he is the best youngster out there - one who has shown the potential and promise of stepping into the boots of the seniors out there. Ajinkya is another - but selectors have so far dicked with him, well another story altogether.

Rohit plays as good a shots as Yuvraaj' date=' probably even better especially against genuine pace. Yuvraaj used to look uncomfortable against genuine pace and short balls. Rohit's hooks are better than Yuvraaj's. Yuvraaj was more powerful hitter than Rohit.[/quote'] Yuvraj has bad records against Aus in Aus and SA in SA. But he has played 1-2 good innings.

Sorry, I am not inclined to judge two players just based on their performances in slapdash cricket. T20 is wonderful entertainment, but just not something I'd base my analysis upon while comparing talent. Just does not cut it. ODIs too I confess aren't the greatest platforms to do it either, but considering it requires slightly more skill and temperament to excel in, it is better than T20s. Kohli has shown one big thing which I have not seen from Nohit - dedication to his craft and focus to perform for his country. That is evident right from the beginning of his career - when he captained India u -19s to a WC win.

That is what makes Kohli better batsman than Rohit, but talent is not that. Talent is about natural stroke play, range of shots, time to play genuine quick bowling, use of feet against spinners, pleasing to eyes and Rohit has that wow factor in his batting when he comes of, but when his gets out in ugly ways it is like how.

rohit's talent is overrated cricket is mroe then jsut hitting bowlers out of ground on flat tracks its jsut one part of game wht abt when bowlers are on top and when there is hint of help from track rohit has always failed on tough tracks always not even one exception

Talent is never overrated, but the thing is talent needs to be mixed with some other essential parts of the game as well then only one can make it count. There are plenty of example where less talent players have made more than the super talented ones. The best example is Waugh brothers Steve and Mark. Steve Waugh was less talented between the two but he was greater batsman between the two. I would compare Steve Waugh to Kohli and Mark Waugh to Rohit as an example in terms of their batting and characteristics.

trust me kohli is very talented too just bcos he failed in this circus does not changes much w/o talent u cant play innings like he did against sri lanka and then against pakistan u can say rohit looks better then its different things kohli is like tendulkar and rohit is like lara if u want to compare styles :winky:

Kohli is nowhere near Tendulkar in play. You havent seen young Tendulkar then. Kohli is a better version Dravid in terms of stroke play. Rohit Sharma is a better version of VVS Laxman in terms of stroke play. I am not comparing success in their careers, just their stroke play and natural flair. VVS was always considered more naturally talented than Dravid, but VVS didn't do justice to his talent barring last few years.

hmm i know it wasnt a perfect comparison i meant difference in flair and honestly kohli s is way ahead of dravid in terms of stroke play u might think he has limited strokes but he has all areas covered can play all type of deliveries comfortably now unlike rohit yes u might not see the flair but its effective and not slow by any means he hates getting out which is good thing imo...might not work in t20 though rohit is over rated i will compare him to mahela superb bat in home conditions but pretty mediocre when ball bounces

I didnt say he has limited strokes. Kohli has all the strokes to him, but the ease and flair with which Rohit can smash the bowlers is only Rohit has after Yuvraj.

Did you watch the video I posted. This is not a flat track by any means. It was hard, bouncy and all Indian batsmen were looking like lambs thrown on the ground to slaughter, only Rohit stood out and thrashed every Aussie bowler out of the park from fastest to slowest. This is another innings to remember on a seaming track. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdcpGRwXLzk]Twenty20 Rohit Sharma Six India vs South Africa - YouTube[/ame]
