urbestfriend Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Her remarks were little OTT , but it was mainly targeted towards her friends, I guess...May be just to rile up her friends, Its really stupid of someone to take a screenshot and send it to others..I can't imagine she can ever step into Jingoistic Tamil soil again, poor lady ,lost her career for a stupid post.

Are you implying she purposely made the comment cause she wanted the response she got? No sane person, celebrity or otherwise wants to get humiliated in any forum, online or not, have death threats sent to their families and create all these on purpose just so they can further their agenda. And regarding you guys talking about sensitive idiots ready to wage internet wars, these are no different from sensitive people in the non-internet world as well. The internet happens to be an extremely popular and widely used medium. If she had made the same comments to a group of people in a speech, she would have gotten the same kind of response in a non-internet world as well.

The internet happen to be an extremely popular medium among a certain age group. And most people from that age-group doesnt have the maturity to put their point across without getting personal. Add anonymity of the internet and you will see how in most internet forums, the kind of language used, the trolling and lack of thoughts is something you will never see in the real world

[/quote'] She might very well have made them purposefully, but there is no way to determine her objective behind making the comments. The larger point is that politicians and celebrities often make controversial statements to gain mileage among their audiences. Fringe politicians often make incendiary statements because it helps them get into the limelight, e.g. the likes of Muthalik. Oh there are plenty of over sensitive idiots in real life as well, but the keyboard warriors of the internet take the cake for the sheer rage they show over the slightest perceived insult and the lack of effort it takes to protest over the internet. In real life, atleast you have to show a bit of initiative to go out and join a protest. Over the Internet, all it takes is a few keystrokes to become a warrior. Just read the youtube comments of any India/Pakistan video and you will see what I mean.

Read the letter she wrote to see who gave her back and how she feels about her comments. :winky: Yes I would have loved to have given her those replies there, I am only agreeing with those guys here.
