some are so blinded by hate that they are unable to distinguish between personal law & civil law .. Hope all communities take this as an opportunity to reform themselves and amend their personal laws if they do not want to adhere to a uniform code
Yes, although it's not only about hate. The thing is Muslims talk a lot about secularism. But for them, secularism is all about free gifts, special privileges, relaxed laws. Getting exclusive treatment for no reason. So when somebody is talking about equality and fair treatment to all Indians, they get very angry. They are very used to such perks that now they demand it each time, or else have anger.

You talk a lot about homosexuals. Wonder what actually Muslims think about homosexuals?:giggle::giggle: So now, will you call Muslims communal and launch protests against them? That would be very odd:hysterical:

Ridiculing homosexuals? Talking about equal rights for an oppressed minority is ridicule? Let me get this straight - BJP will jail homosexuals and accord them rights to marriage, inheritance, and divorce in jail?

Your interpolation skills are highly laudable.. let BJP take a stand on Gay rights before formulating laws for them. Meanwhile why dont you advice the 2nd largest community on reforming some of its personal laws and talk about equal rights for everyone

Good question. He went completely silent when asked about that community stand. :haha:

Two aides to Modi told Reuters in the run-up to the vote that if he becomes prime minister, India would get tougher in territorial disputes with China and more robust with Pakistan over attacks by Islamist militants based there. In its manifesto, the party said it would seek friendly relations with neighbours, but — without naming any country — vowed to "deal with cross-border terrorism with a firm hand" and take a "strong stand and steps" when required. India adopted a no-first-use policy at a time when it was under pressure from punitive embargoes by western nations for its nuclear tests, but since then it has been unofficially accepted as a nuclear power. The United States struck a deal with New Delhi in 2008 to give it access to civilian nuclear technology as well as finance even while it carried on with its weapon programme. The no-first-use policy was based on a premise that India would retaliate so massively against a nuclear strike that an enemy would not contemplate such a move in the first place. However, a source who advises the BJP said there has been significant debate in recent years about being bound to the policy given the advances of Pakistan's nuclear capability. He said Pakistan's nuclear inventory may have already overtaken that of its neighbour, and it has claimed progress in miniaturization of weapons for use on the battlefield. "Do we need tactical weapons? This issue was never raised and discussed because at the time it was not a concern." said another source involved in drawing up the manifesto.
Interesting move, if it happens. It changes the tone of our foreign policy so far. We were considered passive, now will change that stance. It could lead to some instability in the region, but in the long term it will increase perception of others about us as global power.

They did. A few months back their party president went on record to say that they agree with Supreme Court's decision to keep homosexuality as a criminal offense and consider homosexuality as unnatural.

Yes, the BJP agrees with the law of the land as upheld by the Supreme Court. What is wrong in that ? Uniform Civil Code and Section 377 are not incompatible. The United States has had Uniform Civil Code since its inception and till recently it also had anti-sodomy laws in its books.

The BJP's stand on homosexuality is the stand of the majority in India, cutting across all religious and economic strata. It is the stand of the Supreme Court and it is the stand of the Parliament. Uniform Civil Code is about having the same laws for inheritance, marriage and divorces for all communities. It is not about re-defining marriage or relationships.

By the way, no party -- including those who were seemingly opposed to Section 377 -- has dared to include amending of Section 377 from the IPC in its manifesto. Everyone knows what the overwhelming majority opinion in India is. This should be respected.

BJP must be supported for being the only party to consistently support a Uniform Civil Code and the repeal of Article 370. These two steps are the need of the hour to enhance the security and social cohesiveness of the country.

What is wrong with BJP agreeing with the law of the land is that the law of land criminalizing homosexuality violates basic human rights. Article 370 is also a law of the land enshrined in the constitution.

Article 370 has directly led to a situation where over 100,000 Kashmiris have been killed by terrorists, thousands of soldiers have died, three wars have been fought, and probably hundreds of thousands of crores of national resources have been wasted. On the other hand, not ONE, not ONE person has been convicted of under Section 377 for having consensual sex in the last several decades. It has been used to prosecute non-consensual sexual assault only. This is a made up issue.

Doesn't matter. Article 370 is an integral part of the constitution and Section 377 is not.

1.People from RoI can't buy land in himachal too
If a non-Himachali stays in the state for 20 years, he/she is entitled to a domicile status. No such provision exists for Kashmir. In Kashmir it is a complete segregation from the rest of India.
2. If a lease period of say up to 99 yrs could be allowed, its as good as abolishing article 370
This is not just about land by the way. The central laws are not applicable to Kashmir. The Jan Lok Pal bill that AAP talks about would not be applicable in Kashmir even if it passes the Parliament. Such is the case with all other laws - CVC Act, RTI Act etc, as well. They will have to be approved by the Kashmir legislature. This duality simply cannot be sustained if Kashmir has to be integrated into India.
