thongale Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 You're underrating Vaas big time. He was a fine bowler. The ability to swing the ball is also a talent.Mate, why don't you believe me! I have followed most of these guys careers. Vaas was a workoholic with serious work ethic. It was discipline in every aspect of his game he used to compensate the lack of pace and lack of bounce he got. But others were big, strong men, with broad shoulders and hit the pitch very hard. But either their work ethic, training or fitness was ****, and they broke down very quickly and repeatedly.
Vilander Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Nissanka' date=' before his injury did bowl a spell of 140+ in WI, and took 5/48 as well. And Fernando has been clocked even at 151k. But I agree that all these are 135k bowlers on average. But I don't think either Yadav or Aaron can register 140k+ spell for a long periods of time. The bitter fact is both Indian and Lankan bowlers lack fitness as some Pakistanis. We may not see fitness geeks like Kapil, Vaas, Akram and Waqar for a long time. Indians are doing well at the moment, with fitness, but looking at subcontinal history, looks like another flash in pan.[/quote'] i dont ever recall fernando clocking anything more that 148 in his prime. But yeah i have to agree that Indians and Srilankans are not as fit as westerners, but i think we are better off than paki because theirs is a physical inability problem..:two_thumbs_up: too small in size.

I think rest of the world must now accept that indians are quick, but wayward..
Vilander Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I am laughing my ass off. Malinga was the quickest Asian bowler if you discount the Pakis. He was clocked at 156.5k at NZ, the closest rival was Srinath who got up to 156k. Fernando (despite being crap) for a decade and a bit bowls in mid 130s and gets up to 150 once in a while. Apart from Srinath, who was the Indian bowler who was able to sustain pace for that long? OMG, Mitchell Johnson, Dale Steyn. Marchant de Lange, And few of those Aussies get in to that bracket and sustain their pace for a longer time. It's not bowling a 4 over spell at pace, but returning to the 3rd spell of the day and still hitting 140k. On this note none of the Asian bowlers were able to do it. If that was the case, Sl by now would have had a ****ing good pace attack. But it did not turn out to be like that. malinga bowls at best at around 145, fernando bowls an occassional ball at around 140, sl bolwers are jolly medium. what are you crapping you ass off for ?
Executioner Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 the problem is that youth in India say that they wanna become like Dravid or Tendu, and nowadays like sehwag, gambhir, kohli or Dhoni. Youll notice that there is no1 like kumble in the list. Even though kumble was a great leg spinner he isnt a big name among youths only because he is a bowler. so the point is that youngsters look at batsman as models, and not the bowlers. Thats why India has so few quality bowlers and all-rounders? There are none. Its more abt the mentality of youths. You will see kids longing to become a batsman and not a bowler
jj_28 Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Yadav Aaron Both are 145+ Ishant bowls around 140 So we have fast bowlers, if they can become WC Fast bowler depends on how much they improve in the coming years. Umesh progress has been very satisfying.

Umesh progress has been very satisfying. Ishant is faster than the above two if you are talking about average speed. He was the quickest in Australia.
vvvslaxman Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Given a choice i would want a kapil dev for India than a Kumble or Tendulkar.
panther Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 Ishant is faster than the above two if you are talking about average speed. He was the quickest in Australia. no only 1 spell he was quicker than yadav
vvvslaxman Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 no only 1 spell he was quicker than yadav No sir.. check the match threads. Ishant had better average speed than every Indian bowler.
Vilander Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Yadav Aaron Both are 145+ Ishant bowls around 140 So we have fast bowlers, if they can become WC Fast bowler depends on how much they improve in the coming years. Umesh progress has been very satisfying. yeah only Ishant is quicker than Yadav.
Old guy Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 ishant is quicker then yadav :agree: but difference there was pace off pitch he was bowling shorter and not hitting the seam so yadav looked quicker
panther Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 If Sami can represent Pak, I dont c any reason why cant aaron or Ishant represent India. Given a chance I am sure Pak would love to have bowlers like Aaron and Ishant. Gone are those days when Pak used to dominate in Pace bowling. Infact Pak is lucky that we are not playing them regularly, India will beat Pak badly if they play a series now. :cantstop:
Square Drive Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 You would be right if that was their bowling averages. Sadly it is their age. I actually thought that was their average :hysterical: We thought the same when bowlers like Nissanka' date=' Malinga, Fernado, Eranga, Lakmal, Thushara etc came through. All were quick, and moved the ball, and far more talented than Vaas and were big men (except Malinga). But everybody were extremely fragile, and no one could even ties Vaas' shoelaces in test level.[/quote'] To add to the list, I remember one time Ishara Amarasinghe rated as the fastest in SL domestic circuit before his injury. Also Dhamma Prasad in his debut test bowled really quick. I remember he bowled few 148kph deliveries. Bird Lal uncle said he's got serious pace, and thereafter he could never reach those speeds
MCcricket Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 India has been let down time and again especially by the apathy and non planning strategy by selectors and coach BCCI, and away tour has to be practice games, atleast 4 to 5 tests, and same number of odi, the away factor evens out and also the players can get acclimatized, also the unimaginative selections and Dhoni's short sightedness regarding what is required to win away in SA, AUS, ENG. We do not have a shortage of skilled and talented f/m and fast bowlers but selectors are hell bent on punting for limited trundlers, who cannot bowl in the middle overs, at death, with old ball or require the subcontinent conditions, a team can only afford one such bowler for want of option in the squad and can play one odd game when the conditions are right for him and cannot be depended on, VK, Unadkat, Mithun useless, Mohit, BK limited and thus one cannot understand on team composition and reluctance to pick Pankaj, Umesh, , Aaron, Suyal and why on earth would you waste Shami in middle overs and not have him attack upfront because you have two very limited bowlers selected in the team who can bowl a bit only upfront and only in limited conditions and time.

You will see kids longing to become a batsman and not a bowler Indian bowling is pathetic because bowlers don't bowl to take wickets, they lack wicket taking ability. At the end of the day, batsman have to score runs and bowlers have to take wickets, that's cricket. Not innovating diliscoop or helicopter shots. It is about scoring runs and taking wickets. Batting wise, indian batsman score runs, indian bowlers just don't know how to take wickets.
express bowling Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Dhoni has stated in an interview that we need a bit more pace. Why can't they foresee this before the tour and have to be thrashed badly to understand ? After all, Dhoni knew that we were coming to South Africa. Our cricketing community needs a bit of foresight. Currently it is a case of trying out players, who had no quality to start with, and understanding this after 10 matches. Dhoniji, a bit of foresight and planning please.
panther Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 Anyone see the ball roll at the end of the video?, lol only in India can this guy be hired as a coach to teach someone how to bowl, looks like they grabbed this guy from the nearest call center and forced him to make this vid.
