Sir john Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 The Thane police on Saturday busted a major lottery scam that was being executed by a gang of eight Nigerians and arrested all of them. The gang is believed to have committed a string of frauds in the Thane area and send at least 20,000 fraudulent emails bearing fake logos of major corporations. According to police sources, the gang was busted after the anti-extortion cell received a tip-off that a serial conman would be coming to the Wagle Estate in Thane. The police laid a trap and picked him up for questioning. He was identified as Kings Emmanuel, a Nigerian national, and during questioning, he revealed that he had gone there to collect ÅÑrocessing fees from a Thane resident whom he had conned into believing that he had won a lottery. Å£ased on his answers, we raided a house in Koparkhairane and took seven more men into custody. Six laptops, five data cards, two pen drives, 12 cellphones and `25,000 in cash was seized from the flat, said Pandit Kendre, assistant commissioner of police (crime branch), Thane police. The remaining accused have been identified as Godspower Ojogan (25), Henry Ochiamau (24), Fortune Nyeche (28), Chukwusindi P. Ebubu (34), Idoko Hillary Chukwuemeka (27), Justice Owhar (23) and Ellis Barfur Hawahaa (28). An analysis of the computers seized in the raid has revealed emails sent in the names of companies like Coca Cola, Nokia, Micromax and the Reserve Bank of India. The accused also have 12 accounts in different banks. http://www.asianage.com/mumbai/8-nigerians-held-lottery-scam-bust-422 they send me mail many times :((
