I remember he had an injury and then he faded away. I believe this guy deserves an ODI call-up, in preparation for the World Cup. Dhawan and Nayar (who is in the squad now), along with Pandey should play some friggin matches before the world cup. :hitler:

Somewhat inconsistent. He needs to come up with a clutch of break through performances in the domestic cricket. He always produces middle of the road performances. That is the only way you can get noticed.

I saw him play and he looks just like Yuvi when he bats, not the same power of course, but they look very alike. As for performances, I think he did have those series of big scores before the injury.

He was the most exceptional batter for Indian U19 team when he played in the final a few years back. Unfortunately for him, his teammates like Robin Uthappa, RP & PK got the call ahead of him, when he was maybe in the form of his life. He is one of the most destructive openers I have seen. The way he batted in the U19 trophy and particularly the final was sensational. Since then, he's been a bit down. But he's gonna be back with a bang :two_thumbs_up:

One reason could be he is himself not very popular within the Delhi team or with the officials there. I was very surprised when Kohli was named the Delhi captain ahead of Dhawan. The home associaition could do well to back him more, even his Delhi seniors Sehwag and Gambhir haven't encouraged him much. Despite being an opener, he has batted at all positions for Delhi. Bt at 23, he still has age on his side and a very good season somewhere will surely pitchform him into national contention.

With a better List A record n more experience there is no way Nayar should have been piced ahead of him, unless u consider Nayar's bowling

I also thought he should have been given chance once instead of Badri/Vijay .. I am not mighty impressed by the Badri/Vijay duo till now.. they seem to be inconsistent.. they are nowhere near RD or even Ganguly in tests (I am saying about debut itself where both RD and Ganguly were awesome and that too at Lords AFAIK) I would also recommend giving Pujara a chance in the next test series

Why not have the whole Dilli team then? :finger: I was talking more about ODIs for Dhawan. But, he is a pure bat and may not get those chances because we are trying to fit in an allrounder in at 7. For all-rounders, there is only one decent choice which is Irfan.

not sure he deserves a chance in tests.guys like Kohli,Pujara,Pandey have better FC averages n Nayar can also bowl he should have been in for ODIs though

Right now Cheeka is including all Southies :finger: Vijay and then Badri and then Karthik and then ... :finger: Jokes apart, I am not too much impressed by Badri at least .. I want 7 world class batsman for all the 7 test batsman and Badri or Vijay is not looking like one .. they are good but not the best .. I need only the best in the world for at least the 7 batting spots in tests .. even a Karthik would hit a fifty every 3 innings .. so what is the benefit of giving Badri or Vijay chances .. I would try somebody else like Pujara instead I am worried a bit about the test team because many of the players like RD, VVS and Sachin would retire in a few years and so we need to create batsmen to fill in the shoes of such greats .. frankly speaking till now we have not even got the ideal replacement for Dada since he retired from international cricket .. Ganguly was 10x better than UV, Vijay or Badri and they dont seem to be anywhere near the quality of Dada.. we have tried but we have not found the ideal replacement for Ganguly yet ... all four retired/soon retiring batsmen RD, Sachin, VVS and Ganguly were/are test legends and we need batsmen of such caliber to replace them. Regarding ODIs, there are no more spots left for batsmen. Only an all rounder can fill that no.7 and I also see Irfan fitting that slot though not totally convinced.

Yup I was saying about Pujara or Dhawan. I personally would like to give the chance to Pandey though because he is the youngest in the side yet has an awesome attitude. The one thing which I like about Pandey is that he is devoted towards cricket. He gives his best. Many thought that he was a chance player in that IPL century but then he proved wrong. He got fame but then even worked harder in the Ranjis and got he highest runs in the tournament. He also gives his full dedication to his fielding too and frankly speaking even to try to take that awesome Ranji catch is a great feat and he also kept holding on to it. I like his attitude a lot. Personally speaking I dont like Kohli's attitude though he is improving a lot. Nayar can be tried for ODIs as we need an all rounder but frankly speaking when he was given chance then his bowling got shattered even in SA pitches and so not sure how would he match in Indian pitches.. he does not have a great swing or pace to have a better chance than Irfan IMO .. in tests I would not take him for sure as neither is his batting nor bowling impressive enough for tests If I leave Dhawan out then I would go for either Pujara or Pandey for tests.

Vijay does look good and I would persist with him. Pandey for tests is kinda iffy, he still has no time and of course that should not be a reason for disqualification, however there are others before him that deserve a chance. Vijay definitely seems to be one of the replacements, it is the other two that give us the problem. I think Yuvraj will still be persisted with. I had hopes on Badri because he is such a 'veteran', but things look iffy.
