The BPP, which controls over 5,000 flats in the city, had earlier fixed this amount at under Rs 50,000 a month. I know one sorry ass parsi who is holding on to his south bombay parsi board apartment and he makes 1.3L/month. Add his wife's salary and they've got 2L coming in every month while living in a heavily-subsidised flat. Bombaywalas will know what it would mean to live practically rent-free in SoBo.

The former were pretty neutral to the British & the Independence movement while the latter knew where it belonged. Besides, it wasn't easy being uprooted from your home and resettling with a blank page in that era. As long as they produce more sons like Kripalani & Manekshaw, the country will be better off.

Really? Dude, when was it ever easy? Also, do you see the kind of homes refugees are given in any other country? Even the most immigrant friendly and affluent country doesn't set you up with houses in the middle of the country's most expensive square miles of real estate. As for Kriplani and Manekshaw, tell me one particular community that can't name individuals who have made notable contributions to the nation? The Parsees never integrated into Indian society. Apart from a few good friends who are exceptions and I'm sure there are many others, it's fair to say the Parsees still don't see themselves as part of India. And these provisions, of subsidized housing etc., don't help the cause at all. And it's not like they are maginalized or disenfranchized people, the Parsee community has made great contributions and benefited from business, the movie industry, sports etc. You will find one or two in the board or at least top management of a majority of bombay corporate houses. The Sindhis too have made great contributions like the Parsees, except they don't have this 'gimme' infrastructure. Frankly, I'm appalled that you don't find anything odd that Rs. 90,000 / month constitutes any sort of poverty. We might as well gather around the pavement-dwellers and :hehe::hehe:

We might as well gather around the pavement-dwellers and :hehe::hehe: Well they're tightly knit & almost closed as a community, i wouldn't doubt their loyalty or their integration into society. I don't know about the gimme tactics, does BPP receive govt grants ? Sindhis in comparison are far too many to run this sort of housing plan and there's smaller things like reservation in colleges run by them for instance. Besides, the primary complain i have from one of these communities (that yours truly belongs to, take a guess) is tax evasion. This headline seems trivial in comparison.
Stuge Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 besharam :headshake: pakra gaya parasi boyz :P jokes aparat ,this is just wow...I mean Rs 90k a month is lot of amount if you consider India ,but buying flat with that kind of amount in cities is getting impossible these days . If people like me try to buy a house/flat in Delhi right now then I will have to leave this place without any choice .
