jairamesh Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 I have opened this thread to follow the progress of India A and scrutinize each success and failure. Who is worth tying Laxman's shoe laces or be Tendu's waterboy during those hot and humid days. Also these players' performance will indicate how insync are the Selectors (wrt to Test team) in relation to these "A" tours, so hopefully no more Rainas or Mithuns in Tests teams :hehe: Starting from last year's Emerging Players Tournament in Australia (3-day games): India Emerging Players v South Africa Emerging Players at Brisbane - Aug 1-3, 2011 South Africa Emerging Players 259 and 291/3d; India Emerging Players 269/8d and 278/6, Dhawan 146, Rahane 100, draw India Emerging Players v New Zealand A at Townsville - Aug 6-8, 2011 India Emerging Players 404/6d and 108/1; New Zealand A 272 and 239 (f/o), M Tiwary 188, Pandey 96, V. jairamesh Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 Emerging Players Tournament in Australia, 2011 ____________________________________________________________________________________ India A tour of West Indies, 2012 (3 off 4-day games):
Cricket Tragic Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Pandey and Tiwary scored runs in Australia. Hence we can conclude that the bowling attack/condtions was a joke.
jairamesh Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 Tiwary's 150 remains a mystery also came at strike-rate at of 100 plus :hysterical:, i think IPL auction must have been nearby then.
rkt.india Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 That was EPT' date=' they were batting vs kids[/quote'] South Africans and Kiwis were not kids. Aussies had some young players, but also had some international players.
Chandan Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 South Africans and Kiwis were not kids. Aussies had some young players' date=' but also had some international players.[/quote'] Aussies had international players in their EPT squad? Thats a big news to me. Can you tell me who were they? Which year?
jairamesh Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 Aussies had international players in their EPT squad? Thats a big news to me. Can you tell me who were they? Which year? The games India Emerging Players played against them, Australia had Michael Beer (3 Tests by then), Mitchell Starc (several ODIs by then, and now a 7 Test veteran).
jairamesh Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 New Zealand had likes Woodcock, Daniel Flynn, McKay, Neil Broom, quite from top of my head. Not sure if Bracewell was international be then. Not sure about SA, maybe Levi, anyways they were all auditioning for Andy Flower so having played for South Africa discounts them:giggle:
vvvslaxman Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Saurabh Tiwary 151? was this tournament fixed :cantstop:
Needforspeed Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 I remember an interview by Varun Aaron after he came back from the EPT. In that he said that none of the games were played on International venues and the pitches were very flat and not at all helpful to the bowlers. He was saying in the context of his performance in the tournament (whcih was quite good).
rkt.india Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Aussies had international players in their EPT squad? Thats a big news to me. Can you tell me who were they? Which year? Jon Holland, Ben Cutting, Michael Beer, Mitchell Starc, not hugely experienced but have been part of Australian team. Most South African players had plenty of FC experience. Several NZ players were international experienced players. Thing that went in favor was pitches after first session or so were very flat.
rkt.india Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Saurabh Tiwary 151? was this tournament fixed :cantstop: 2-3 years ago,. Tiwary had an average of 98 in Ranji trophy season.
vvvslaxman Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 2-3 years ago' date='. Tiwary had an average of 98 in Ranji trophy season.[/quote'] But it's plate group where all weak teams play.
rkt.india Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 But it's plate group where all weak teams play. Doesn't matter. Plate group team had won Vijay Hazare trophy two consecutive years. Plate group team had won Ranji trophy.
bulbul Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Doesn't matter. Plate group team had won Vijay Hazare trophy two consecutive years. Plate group team had won Ranji trophy. but its one or 2 teams...rest of them are pretty mediocre [eventhough Individual players stand out] any way in a big country like ours its difficult to reduce teams and improve quality of tourney
rkt.india Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 but its one or 2 teams...rest of them are pretty mediocre [eventhough Individual players stand out] any way in a big country like ours its difficult to reduce teams and improve quality of tourney This is how we argue against Bradman's 99.:winky:
Lord Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 I am wondrering why didnt Raina play?surely hes good enuff for India A team
vvvslaxman Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Doesn't matter. Plate group team had won Vijay Hazare trophy two consecutive years. Plate group team had won Ranji trophy. In Ranji Trophy you don't meet elite group at any point if i am right. You play against teams like Tripura, Goa, Vidharba..
