Dialogue is excellent. You'll be laughing plenty of times in midst of the violence. Plenty of quirky 'Anurag Kashyap' touches as well. eg In Dev D, Abhay Devol eats up the older woman's bus ticket. Those kind of little scenes are present.

I didn't like the second part as much which seemed to be highly inspired by City of God.

From a reality perspective, the first version has a lot of actual incidents/characters. Second one is more of City-Of-Godesque effort.
