ICC pushes again for DRS, BCCI says no

try telling that to SL and Pak.They had drs when they played Eng becos Eng/english tv channels paid for it. when they played/playing each other no drs becos of funding. ICC has $70 million to distribute per year to all boards. If they pay for udrs they wil have less money to distribute to cricket development. If it is that easy to find sponsos why the hell is every board waiting to play bcci to cancel their debts?
Not too hard to answer.. BCCI has every board by their balls, if any.

Universal sponsors won't work. What if they are in competition with the broadcaster's sponsors? Each broadcaster would have to find their own sponsors for the technology and this is what the boards are finding it difficult.
Woulnt be an issue if ICC takes control over it... much like umpiring Emirrates sponsor umpires)

Trouble is the BCCI subbourns the voting process by bribing other smaller countries with grants with strings

LogRAT has been pathetic and a India basher, VJD - DUCKWORTH , IPL WINDOW, DRS and he pointed finger in one direction, also HOT SPOT, SNICKO, PTICH MAP, SUPER SLOW MO ARE EXCELLENT TOOLS and can be used to assist in decision making but BALL TRACKING is crap and has been recognized as such by prominent present day players, also why should BCCI finance it, let ICC find a way to do it, this guy has been a POOR EXCUSE FOR A ICC CHIEF.

Let's be realistic shall we? ICC can't do much without India whether they get the votes or not. India generates nearly 75-80% of the cricketing revenue world-wide and by rights will have a much bigger stick than other teams. It's the same everywhere. Take the case of UN for example. Do you think they can ever go against US? Don't think so and in cricketing world India is much more powerful and influential than US is in the UN. The best way to handle it is to meet with BCCI, understand their concerns and thrash out a compromise. E.g., if BCCI thinks snickometer or Hawk-eye (or any other technology) is not accurate or "there" yet, remove it from DRS and come out with a statement saying that the "DRS system was revamped on the recommendation of BCCI and the new review system will be much more reliable. Thanks to BCCI for taking the initiative and showing leadership in this matter and guiding cricket into the 21st century". I can't believe for a second that the ICC is so incompetent and pig-headed that they can't understand that the main issue here is ego. BCCI can't back down now and be proved wrong. It's up to ICC to be diplomatic to give BCCI a face saving option looking as if BCCI improved the system and that BCCI was right all along. This sorta stuff happens everyday in any corporate. I wonder where do they get the ICC managers/heads from

Because we fund it. Give our annual 230 million US $.
That does not make you a special case. That makes you a bully who has no respect for any other test or cricket playing nation. It makes you even worse than what you accuse us of, why? Because we governed for the betterment of the game. You are using your muscle just for yourselves. Thats worse than cheating Pakis

LOL thats rich coming from someone whose country had veto in ICC once and tried to keep it until forced in the 90s to give it up. There is that Britons and their superiority complex. You did nothing better. BCCI has its points,if other boards want to vote againist it,they are welcome to do so.Who is stopping ECB to go againist BCCI?

Any comments on Cambridge Univ ? Are they also part of the conspiracy ?
Here is Ed Rosten of Cambridge. http://www.edwardrosten.com/index.html His name is not listed in the faculty. http://www.eng.cam.ac.uk/research/people#R Its is not clear what position he holds Anyway, here is the email I wrote to him. I'll post any reply i get from him. Dear Dr. Rosten, I ran across your name in regards to the accuracy of the Hawkeye system used in Cricket to predict the path of the ball. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/content/story/569949.html "The CEC stated it was "satisfied" with the improvements made over the two key components of DRS technology. These include the new Hot Spot cameras as well as the independent ball-tracking research conducted by Dr Ed Rosten, a Cambridge University department of engineering expert in computer-vision technology. Rosten, the ICC said, had "tested the accuracy and reliability of ball-tracking in a recent Test series and concluded that the results were 100% in agreement with the outcomes produced from his assessments." 1) Will any of the testing information be available to the public? 2) How were the tests conducted? In a cricket ground? using a bowling machine? If players were used to bowl instead of a bowling machine, were both spinners and fast bowlers used? 3) How exactly did you verify the accuracy of Hawkeye? did you feed the system partial footage of deliveries that made it to the keeper? Given that this system is being used for public consumption and your research is being used to endorse its use, I'm hoping you will be able to shed some light on this matter.

Why should it bother financing DRS for some stupid SL-PAK series. :hysterical: The home boards are free to implement DRS if they want.

Clearly the problem now isnt the availability of the DRS option, its the unavailability of money to fund it. India saying yes to DRS isnt going to solve this problem, unless the other boards expect BCCI to fund it, which BCCI clearly does not want to do. I dont blame it - why should they pay for the incompetence of other boards who have the money to organize their T20 premier leagues but dont want to spend money on something that they so passionately support. The central sponsor to DRS is another impractical idea that is thrown over and over again. It will never work. How would the central sponsor get enough airtime to justify sponsoring the technology for every test match that takes place, and how would a broadcaster's sponsor react if a competitor is given airtime at its expense? The only solution is to introduce a stripped down version of DRS which just prevents the most obvious of howlers by using only replays and pitch mats- pitching outside leg, impact outside, clear inside edges on lbw, visible deflection on catch appeals etc. The very usage of Hawkeye and Hotspot seems counter intuitive to me since they are employed to prevent marginal decisions going wrong whereas the entire DRS system was put into place mainly to prevent the howlers, which can anyway be seen by the naked eye. No one is going to lose sweat on an umpire getting a marginal decision either way, people cry foul over umpiring when very obvious things are overlooked. Implementing such a DRS would not require any difficult to acquire technology, or additional funding sources. I dont understand why Lanka and Pak dont go for this option as this solves everyone's problem

DRS: Michael Vaughan wants firm ICC stance with India

Av58dKvCEAEMQ9-.jpg:large

Former England captain Michael Vaughan says the International Cricket Council must take a firm stance with India over mandatory video technology. The ICC want the Decision Review System used in all international matches but the Indian Cricket Board is opposed. "The BCCI continues to believe that the system is not foolproof," they said. But on BBC Radio 5 live's Tuffers and Vaughan show, Vaughan said: "The ICC has to show authority and say to India this is happening, get used to it." The DRS was first introduced in a Test match between New Zealand and Pakistan in November 2009 but it remains at the discretion of boards hosting matches, with both teams having to comply. Sri Lanka opted to use the technology during their home series against England, but not for the current series against Pakistan, prompting criticism from Pakistan coach Dav Whatmore. India refused to allow it for last summer's series in England, in which they failed to win a Test or one-day international, and are expected to dismiss it again when they host England for four Tests, five ODIs and a Twenty20 international from November-January. But Vaughan said: "I think it works wonderfully well around all the different formats. England, in particular Andrew Strauss, have got used to it and is very clever with it. "It's there to get rid of the blunder. Over time it has proven to be very, very good. India need to get with the real world and get on with it because they're ruining it. "They are almost a little bit egotistical and saying 'you can't tell us what to do' and I think it's about time the ICC said 'you've got to listen to us because it's going to happen'." "Sachin [Tendulkar] doesn't like it and Sachin is a massive player in the Indian dressing room and with the Indian hierarchy. He is probably telling them it's not good for the game and I guess they're just going what with he thinks. "I think the ICC has to stamp down and say 'I'm afraid India it's going to be mandatory, the DRS will be in place for every single series that you play in, get on with it.'" http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/18591921

How can BCCI agree with DRS when cases like Ian bell in world cup come up every time India uses it everyone in stadium including Bell knew he was out and that stupid Idi*ot Richardson instead of agreeing the fault of system comes out in support of umpires. Umpires should be held accountable and If they have howlers they should face the media and explain why those errors were committed. If there are repeat offenders ICC then cant hide and have to remove them. ICC does one thing and only one thing which is to provide umpires and that too they cannot do it properly and clowns like Greig instead of moaning against BCCI should moan about ICC's incompetence.

The only biased i see that England have become no.1 ranked team despite not winning a single test series in Asia against IND' date=' PAK,SL in a decade. England being ranked no.1 has made mockery of ranking system.[/quote'] And India became number 1 with lots of series wins in Australia and South Africa. Oh wait... England becoming number 1 shouldn't at all of changed your opinion on the ranking system since India played the majority of their tests in the period against Sri Lanka. And I fail to see why you should have to win in Asia to be number 1, the next rivals for the number 1 spot, haven't even won a series against a top 5 team since 2009 FFS! Who do you think should be number 1 now? India? :hysterical:
