MechEng Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 The chap who began his career with some terrific bowling in Australia and was also quoted as a successor to Curtly Ambrose has failed miserably. His coaches keep pointing out that he's a hardworking bowler and bowls bucketloads of overs in nets (even more than Zaheer). Hard work is there, but is he getting results? In the recent Aus tour, he was generating superb pace and was averaging at 145 -146 kph throughout the Test series, but Michael Clarke, Ponting and Warner hit him for fours with so much ease! He does have issues with his bowling length, but why is he repeating the same mistake when he knows it? It's not good to see such a talented bowler having such terrible stats.

But if you've seen the Perth spell in which he was getting bounce off good length and nipping the ball in to right-handers showed similarities with Curtly.

Prakat Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Lacking in bowling smarts. Basically thinking on your feet, outthinking the batsman. Some enter the sport with it going on, others pick it up as experience. How quick they get up to the mark of int cricket is upto the individual. He doesn't have 'that' high percentage ball which makes watching a bowler exciting for audiences. Which means people will write him off sooner. Hard to tell now if there's any point in persisting with him.

BCCI and ECB have bitter relations, which is a known fact.

Zack played in County Leagues and came back reformed...Neverthless,the point is Ishant is good, if guided well, he has the potential to be an indian all time great, any bowler who can make punter look vulnerable at his peak isnt mediocre...lets wait and watch how he makes a come back from the hamstrings's.

Lord Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 has all the talent but is clueless about his strengths n weaknesses.bowls 150+ n is tall,yet rarely bowls bouncers n has a short leg.that should almost be his stock ball.then doesnt hv a yorker at all. all he tries is line n length which he will be never be good at with his action.as a result cant put enough pressure.

But the sane fans know what a failure this guy has been over the years with an average close to 40. Anyone bowler averaging this poorly after so many games would have been ditched for the next trundler to come out of the prestigious MRF academy. Ishant Sharma is a way train to mediocrity.
