I expect Raina to get another shot at Test cricket. The guy has great attitude and wants to improve. He is next in line after the likes of Pujara, Rohit, Rahane but with the kind of WI A tour Rahane & Rohit had, and if Raina continues to do well in shorter formats he would always be within shouting distance of the Test squad especially when SRT & VVS hang up their boots.

Raina is immensely talented and has an incredible ability to score runs of good balls also he has a wide array of strokes and can hit a length ball outside off on either side of the wicket that is his talent, also is a honest and hardworking cricketer. He now knows what it will take to succeed in test's, he wants to make it big in this format, if he works on his game, he can be successful, he is young and might blossom to be a good test batsmen provided he gets chance and works on his game.Ganguly is the best person for him to look at who was a left hander and had to work on his game also has a similar weakness and played test successfully for a long time for India.

India wasted 35 test matches trying to make a test player out of Yuvraj. Hopefully, they won't repeat the mistake with Raina. The guy has a run off the mill FC average after 8 years of playing Indian trundlers. How can anyone realistically expect him to improve upon that at international level, where his game against the short ball will be exposed further. If we haven't given up on Raina the test player, we should give up as soon as possible.

Yes True ,after that he was not a sure-shot even in ODI's for a while with Pathan replacing him....Then he went to WI and we thought it was a turnaround as he did show a lot of improvement there,scored a 100 in a county game in England,and had a decent test match on a personal level at Lords....

ODIs - It was a question of form rather than ability. He didn't start during the WC but made a massive difference the moment he came in.

You see a person bat and it is easy to conclude whether a player is made for Test or not. Like Yuvraj he consistently gets out to balls leaving him and he nicks them to slips. lot of people are not very good against short balls but Raina totally forgets his footwork in tests and stays back in the crease and this is very dangerous against moving ball.

he doesnt get out to the short ball tho. he gets out to deliveries pitched up to him. the short ones push him back and then the bowler slips in a few full deliveries which he almost never middles. he is such an easy batsman to dismiss. ideally, he could work on staying forward and dropping his gloves, moving away from every short ball (instead of trying that lame 'jump & pull' shot) but with all the ODI/t20 cricket he plays, he is always gonna be an excitable, trigger-happy strokeplayer...those natural instincts are now set in stone.

LOL how can you move forward and then drop ur gloves at the same time lol, you move forward to a fuller delivery and your body and hands are naturally at a lower position you can only stay back to a shorter ball and drop ur gloves and sway to a shorter ball, what Raina does is once he is bowled a couple of short balls he either tries to hit it unconvincingly or tries to move forward to a fuller ball half way and plays away from the balls line and length.:giggle:
