Dravid_TheWall Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 "The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost Complete Text Two roads diverged in a yellow wood And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; 5 Then took the other, as just as fair And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that, the passing there Had worn them really about the same, 10 And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. 15 I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood and I I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
Alchemist Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I like "The miles to go before I sleep" by the same person.
gaurav92 Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I liked "After Apple picking" too, had it in our books for boards :icflove: And Ma'am used to say, all you will get in your literature paper is "Magnified apples". :cantstop: :((
Dravid_TheWall Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 Nice poems too guys. They allow me to see the world through someone else's eyes. I am quite imaginitive and it allows me to see how others express themselves too.
Dravid_TheWall Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 A refreshing change from the usual Appam Chu*** :D :finger: Just seen an interview with the celeb on youtube, he said he will be fit by Jan 2013. :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up:

Dravid_TheWall Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings The free bird leaps on the back of the win and floats downstream till the current ends and dips his wings in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky. But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing. The caged bird sings with fearful trill of the things unknown but longed for still and is tune is heard on the distant hillfor the caged bird sings of freedom The free bird thinks of another breeze an the trade winds soft through the sighing trees and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn and he names the sky his own. But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom. The Dark Horse Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Nice poem i remember reading this poem in my school days :agree: I remember another one, got this after googling Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882) A PSALM OF LIFE WHAT THE HEART OF THE YOUNG MAN SAID TO THE PSALMIST TELL me not, in mournful numbers, Life is but an empty dream ! For the soul is dead that slumbers, And things are not what they seem. Life is real ! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal ; Dust thou art, to dust returnest, Was not spoken of the soul. Not enjoyment, and not sorrow, Is our destined end or way ; But to act, that each to-morrow Find us farther than to-day. Art is long, and Time is fleeting, And our hearts, though stout and brave, Still, like muffled drums, are beating Funeral marches to the grave. In the world's broad field of battle, In the bivouac of Life, Be not like dumb, driven cattle ! Be a hero in the strife ! Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant ! Let the dead Past bury its dead ! Act, act in the living Present ! Heart within, and God o'erhead ! Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time ; Footprints, that perhaps another, Sailing o'er life's solemn main, A forlorn and shipwrecked brother, Seeing, shall take heart again. Let us, then, be up and doing, With a heart for any fate ; Still achieving, still pursuing, Learn to labor and to wait.
Mariyam Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 My favourite Robert Frost poem Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village, though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.
Dravid_TheWall Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 Remember reading this in school :two_thumbs_up: It's amazing. Also as a kid my uncle used to tell me a story about an unhappy bird in a golden cage.
