Day 4 at the U19 CWC saw India register their first win of the tournament over the Zimbabweans at the Tony Ireland Stadium during the live fixture. Unmukt Chand and Chopra looked in invincible touch with a significant 1st wicket stand of over 120 before the short ball did Chopra’s undoing just like in the previous televised match vs. the West Indies. Chand was compact in his defensive play and stylish in his offensive play. One can tell why he is rated so highly by the Indian fan base and why he has so impressive numbers at this level as a consistently performing run machine. The Indian batsmen all struggled against attacking the short pitched deliveries and it brought their downfall regularly. They also seemed to lack batting depth and are heavily reliant on Chand to deliver the goods at the top. For example today they were placed at 150/2 after the 30 over mark and ended up on 261/6 in their 50 and that too was helped with some special hitting in the final over. They slowed down and never really accelerated despite having wickets in hand to unleash at the back end of the innings. South Africa overcomes Namibia comfortably in the easiest fixture they will get during the tournament. De Kock was once against amongst the runs, scoring a century at a blistering pace. New Zealand narrowly beat the Afghanistan side in Group ‘B’. In group ‘A’ Australia marched to the top of the group with their 3rd out of 3 wins in the tournament against Ireland with a 7 wicket win. Captain Bosisto is yet to be dismissed in the tournament in all 3 of his innings. He is a clinical finisher and wise head. Australia will play their quarter final live on Sunday against the runner up of Group ‘D’. Meanwhile Irish captain George Dockrell had phenomenal figures of 10-6-10-1 during that encounter. England will play Nepal in the final televised group fixture on the 16th. Yet again the side who won the toss during the televised game inserted their opponents into batting. Perhaps this is because of the early start, moisture and nature of the wicket. It has been an effective ploy for the full member teams who won by 6 and 4 wickets respectively during the first two televised games. The lesser sides have not got carted around the park either in the 3rd and 4th game.

Day 3 at the Under 19 World Cup saw Australia ease to a comfortable victory over Nepal. Nepal have qualified from this event as an associate and in the past they have reached the semi-finals and won the 3rd place play off as recent as 2006. Opener Bancroft who was the player of the series against Pakistan in the 3 youth one day internationals earlier in the month scored a century as he received a well-deserved MOM and his 4th youth ODI century at the international level. The Australia opening bowler, Conway who did not play in the tournament opener against England produced a hat-trick with all 3 successive deliveries hitting the stumps to give the batsmen the dreaded death rattle. Australia was happy to implement squad rotation and have plenty of competition amongst the seamers. Sri Lanka returned to winning form after the slip up against Bangladesh in Group D with a win over Namibia. West Indies eased to a 9 wicket win and their 2nd out of 2 in the tournament against PNG. Pakistan Qualify For Quarter Finals An unbeaten 100 by Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, helped secure a comfortable 9 wicket win over their Scotland counterparts. Babar, who also played a match winning innings of 75 in the opening game, carried on his good form and sealed his team's passage in to the Quarter-finals. Chasing 201 for victory, Babar Azam and his opening partner, Sami Aslam looked very comfortable. Batting with composure, the pair never looked like they will give Scotland a chance. Sami did lose his wicket for 78 but the 163 run stand had done the damage. There was still enough runs to play for as Babar finished on 106 not out. Earlier in the day, Scotland won the toss and batted first. Their score off 200 was helped by a hard fought 59 by opener McLean. Though once Mohammad Nawaz finished with 4-20 in his 10 overs, the damage had been done. Though 200 was a score the Scotland team could be happy with, it never was going to beat the formidable Pakistani team. Tomorrow India vs. Zimbabwe is the live game from the Tony Ireland Stadium.

Agree with Ramps, Unmukt does look to play a lot like Sehwag, just that he uses his feet more. Some splendid shots by both of these. But the way Chopra got out to short ball was poor.

some poster here said he was injured this was good bowling performance the guy who scored 100 was dropped 2 times early on now hopefully batting will peak at right time and we might get into knock outs once we are there anything can happen :yay:

As much as I was happy to see Passi score those runs, he actually just hit one convincing shot from that, which was the last six. The other two sixes were quite lucky ones which top edged. But if this little publicity can make him think that he can hit like this, then more power to him and hope he continues.

he is a bowler first and he did that job well lets hope tht he is not needed again to bat :winky:

Batting needs to click big time if we're to go past QF stage. At this moment though it looks we'll face Pak unless NZ surprise Pak. So difficult for India ahead.

yeah he was slogging wildly.but atleast he tried.dunno what Zol n Patel were doing tuk tuking
