10 questions you wish somebody would ask Sachin

There is only one thing more boring than a Sachin Tendulkar interview, and that is a self-proclaimed Sachin fan ÃÃ…efending the man from the 0.00001% of the media that dares to criticise him. The past week has seen newspapers excreting massive interviews with the selfish gene-cum-genius. And the general format remains the same as always: cleverly flattering questions followed by seriously vapid answers. Since I am in the enviable position of never having to call Sachin for a quote ever again, and never having to ingratiate myself with the numerous cockroaches that survive on the branded crumbs that drop off his table, I would like to share a list of 10 questions that I have waited for somebody to ask him, in vain. If anybody can get him to answer these questions, I hereby publicly undertake to buy anybody a drink. So Sachin, here are my 10 questions: 1. In 1999-2000, Indian cricket was rocked by the match-fixing scandal. You were a key member of the team that was captained by Mohammed Azharuddin, and Ajay Jadeja was your teammate. But you didnÃÕ say a word. When asked why you remained silent, you said: ŵhe only reason I did not speak about it is that I didnÃÕ know anything about it. I would have given a statement if I knew something. So are you lying, or are you being a cretin when you say that you had no clue about match-fixing going on? 2. The whole world knows that you (and subsequently MS Dhoni) are the reason the BCCI has been stonewalling the ICCÃÔ move to make DRS (Decision Referral System) mandatory in all international fixtures. What exactly do you have against the DRS? Is it that, without technology, the benefit of the doubt (especially on LBWs) goes to the batsman, and you, knowing that there will be far more LBWs with DRS than without, donÃÕ want technology messing with your averages and milestone-hunting? 3. You are richer than anybody can ever want to be. Why then are you forever, and shamelessly, asking or accepting favours from the government? Be it having to change the law (Customs Act) so you donÃÕ have to pay duty on an obscenely expensive luxury vehicle, or petitioning the government to relax the FSI regulations for your bungalow in Bandra, why canÃÕ you just graciously accept the rules that apply to everyone else instead of cashing in on your celebrity status to seek favours? 4. For most, nay, all, of your adult life, you have been a very influential person, with access to the highest corridors of power. Yet, not once in your life have you ever taken a stand on any issue not even on sporting ones. Do you then seriously expect to make a meaningful contribution to any of the debates in the Rajya Sabha? If not, why did you agree to become a Rajya Sabha MP? 5. And having become a Rajya Sabha MP, you say ÃÄricket comes first?!! What were you thinking? That being a Member of Parliament is a nice hobby or what? 6. Why is your captaincy record so abysmal? If your cricketing intelligence is so great, and if you are a thorough professional, and if you are a nice guy, how can you not be even an average captain, like, say, Anil Kumble was? YouÃ×e got to have something that the other guys donÃÕ have for you to be such an extraordinarily poor captain. What could this be? You ever think about that? 7. Against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup this year, you crawled to your 100th hundred (114 in 147 balls on a flat track against a bovinely gentle attack) at 4.5 runs an over, and actually slowed down in the slog overs when the teamÃÔ interests dictated that you score faster. And it was because of your milestone obsession that we lost the match to Bangladesh, which cost us a place in the final. This is not a one-off incident, but the culminating irony of a long career marked by the relentless deployment of individual talent for individual glory, though last I checked, cricket was a team game. Now that youÃ×e got every record in the book, will you, at least in the last remaining matches of your career, either stop playing for records, or stop paying lip service to how you are a team player because itÃÔ too brazenly hypocritical to do both? 8. Why is it that when the chips are down, and India is chasing, you never (save the Sharjah hundreds way back in 1998 on a flat track) ever take India home? DonÃÕ say, ÃÄheck the records because the records tell me very clearly that youÃ×e never single-handedly (like Dravid did in Adelaide or Laxman did while batting with a number 11 to take India home against the Aussies) taken India past the finishing line in your 22-plus years of international cricket. And what kills me is that you had the ability to do exactly that if Yuvraj could, Laxman could, and Dravid could, so could you. But you never did. You just cannot bat for the team under pressure, is that it? Or is it that you never cared for the team as much as you claim to? 9. IÃ×e been pondering this one for ages. How did you become such a boring person open your mouth and everyone goes to sleep? 10. This is an easy one. Do you like journalists who suck up to you? http://www.dnaindia.com/analysis/column_10-questions-you-wish-somebody-would-ask-sachin_1714773 TLDR/just posted

Haterzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i have one question..When you are going to retire ??

About freaking time. Here are my two cents ( pun intended ) 1. What is your transition plan for team India ? 2. For how many more years are you planning to enjoy the game ? 3. Are you playing or planning for 2014 WC ? 4. What is the next record you want to achieve ? 5 what was more satisfying the loss against bang. Or 100th 100. 6 personal milestones or team Victories. Or team victories after personal milestones 7 why didn't you quit from ODIs ? Wtf were you waiting for after send off from Wankhede ? 8 have the seniors unwillingness to shed the limelight and groom the youngsters in within set a time frame hurt Indian cricket 9 how do you remain so humble ? No seriously. How ! 10 Has IPL hurt Indian cricket. Would you among others take personal responsibility for it ?

Why dont you quit and spent time with the family? Let others play. The team has nothing to gain by your continued presence. Indian cricket cannot get worse than what it is already

:hatsoff: rkt! Some great questions there and which everyone wonders about but as you rightly said, nobody could ever ask SRT. I will have a few more... 11. How about his policy of picking and choosing games? How does he feel entitled to do so even though he proclaims himself to "play for the team"? 12. What about his plans for quitting intl cricket especially after the 0-8 debacle and knowing fully that he will not be able to contribute in away series. Wouldn't it be better to ensure transition to youngsters for the betterment of the team he cares so much about? 13. How come he never takes time off during IPL as he can be seen cheering from the sidelines even though he's injured, but when it comes to intl cricket he picks and chooses falling on such lame excuses as "it's my kids' school vacation" I seriously don't know whether this excuse is worse or the classic dog ate my homework. 14. Thoughts about being part of the 0-8 team which has historically been our worst 2 back-to-back tours ever. And continuing to pick and choose even after such debacle shows playing for self rather than the team. 15. How come he skipped the WI series away and WI odi series at home but then played the CB Series and Asia Cup later on? Why the sudden change of heart? Was it because he couldn't get the "maha shatak" against Eng and Aus and decided to get his ton giving two hoots about the team? Where did "I play for my team" and "I don't play for records" sentiments go in that case? 16. On top of costing India the match with his selfish 100th ton and possibly the Asia Cup, how could he go on selfishly about his 100th ton in interviews and didn't even show a hint of disappointment at the loss. How come the loss didn't even matter and it was all about the ton when he supposedly plays for the team and not for records. 17. How does he feel about his legacy - which is only records and stats - whereas even lesser players like Gambhir, Yuvraj and Dhoni actually have a legacy built around winning big tourneys.

It is for entertaining posts like these that I hope Sachin never retires
Don't worry he won't. He still "loves the game" and "plays for the team" and has to achieve a few more records like 50th odi 100, 100th 50, participate in 7th World Cup etc. :giggle:

They are becoming less imaginative these days so I am not totally enjoying them but the OP was ok especially the first question. Yep Azza and Jadeja were match fixing and they would discuss the "fix" with Sachin for him to know about it. Wasn't it on record that a bookie in the Chandrachud committee report said that no matter which team or which players were playing, all fixes were off until Sachin was at the crease"? or something on those lines. I think that is the greatest praise he has got (albeit from the illegal world but just imagine no one was willing to risk their money until he was at the crease...what could be be a better compliment?)

The most important question is will you retire from ODIs after you have scored another 113 runs which will take you past Graham Gooch as the one with most List A runs. As it stands Gooch 22112 runs Hick 22059 runs Sachin 21999 runs

:(( Why are people finding more records for the great man to keep playing for ?

Maybe he does know about the match-fixing scandal and does not want to speak about in the public, and why single out only him, Kumble,Srinath were also a part of the team, and neither have they spoken about it. Is it the case that only Sachin was called for the interrogation process and none of the other one's were? As per the other one's some are pretty trash one's and the age old one's. But yes, the one important question would be his planned transition phase.
