Number
Going for 6s and 4s against malinga doesn't turn me into a believer in Umesh's death bowling skills. He did well in the 46th and 48th overs, real death overs when it mattered. Link to comment
bajrang
i guess somewhere on some srilankan forum some guy must have made similar thread about malinga, no wicket for 83, i am glad guys like these can only rant on forum. Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
He did well in the 46th and 48th overs' date=' real death overs when it mattered.[/quote'] Whatever dude. Putting a lipstick on a pig doesn't change the fact t's a pig. If we are thankful for a bowler somehow managing to not lose the game when opponents needed 110 to win off the last 10 with just 4 wkts in hand, an going for 2-76, go ahead and celebrate. For me it was more of the same with not many positives on the bowling side. Link to comment
asterix
Shouldn't compare with Malinga. He's a Mumbai Indian first... Then a Srilankan... Link to comment

It's just that India is his bogey team. As for Umesh opponents probably fight about who would bat against him. When you are taken apart by Malinga (with the bat mind you, not with the ball) that says it all. Now go ahead and make threads on what great "potential" Yadav has when he went for 2/76, was taken apart by Malinga and barely managed to not lose the game when the opponents needed 110 to win off 10 overs with 4 wkts in hand  Sorry, I can't join you in counting the so called "positives". carnish
he bowled as third change in match and mostly as 1st change and many were flat pitches it not as if others were not hammered. He got hit for 2 sixes and a 4 by Malinga ... Umesh is a Joke .. Plus was bowling at less than 140 throughout today .. classless guy .. needs to improve.. just bowls shot pitch stuff.. no use of brain Link to comment
rkt.india
At the end of the day he finished off with 2-76  Malinga 0-83:winky: Link to comment
Vilander
if not for sehwag chahca dropping sanga, Yadav would have got him in his first over. Yadav did not get the new ball, he had to bowl at death. The last over was a brain fart. Link to comment
FreakazoiD
Come on guys, seriously. This guy is coming off a 3 month holiday, cut him some slack. Fast bowlers take time to get into rhythm. Remember, Umesh is supposed to lead our pack once Zak retires, so lets show some faith in him. Can't believe someone started a whole doomsday thread on him after just 2 overs..jeez Link to comment

Ultimate_Game
Malinga 0-83:winky: Yes but as I mentioned in one of my earlier posts Malinga has a pretty good track record and it's just that India is his bogey team. But for Umesh every time he comes up against decent opposition he falls apart. Let's see what he does in other matches. Link to comment

If every time your specialist bowlers start performing if a catch is dropped, they better not play intl cricket. Guess what, shyte happens and catches have been dropped in the past and will be dropped in the future as well, but that shouldn't be an excuse for getting creamed by all and sundry. Link to comment

Even in Aus barring a spell or two in Tests he was quite average, and in the CB tri series he was downright pathetic and most o fthe games went wicketless without completing his quota and concedin runs at 6-8 runs an over. Look you can't be "all or nothing" bowler at intl level. You can't go "it was not my day" and end up costing your team as most of the time you will not be at your best but the drop-off from your best can't be that teep as we ahave seen with Umesh. This drop-off in performance means lack of consistency and not enough cricket under his belt at FC level. If he continues the same way for some more time he should be sent to play FC cricket coz he's not helping himself or his team by being taken apart at intl level. Link to comment
